Does anyone know if ScaleKraft of South Africa is still in business? If so, how do I contact them. Is there anyone in the U.S. that sells his amazing castings? I want to buy J-285 and a few of his photo etched parts. He is the only one who who makes the two correct photo etched spoke patterns for Duesenbergs.

10 years is about right. From what I heard, Guido had an accident (mountain climbing?) and that pretty much ended his model making career.

Now I'm not sure if it was because of the accident, or if he had already decided to give up the resin business beforehand. He did have some real neat stuff! I'd love to get a hold of some of his offerings if someone out there bought the molds from him.

Scale Kraft has been gone for awhile.

Guido Fiew was on a hiking adventure in Belgium and fell about 200 meters down a mountain and almost died from the accident from blood loss alone. Months later he returned home to South Africa, and had to give up the resin business due to lingering damage to his ability to use his hands. He returned to his previous work in architecture. There had been talk of him selling the masters/molds, but nobody knows if that ever happened. Sad loss; he made some very unique subjects.

I got all of his Mini conversions and the Porsche 356 Abarth, teh fiat based Abarths and 2 Phantom Corsairs. I did not get around to getting the Deusenbergs which I regret. I wish he had finished the Porsche America roadster and 356/1 and the 550 spyder. I heard that he sold all of his stuff to someone else in South Africa. It was second hand news - don't know if it was true.

Like they say about resin - get it now because it may be unavailable shortly. I have been on both sides of that situation.

It's funny that I spotted this thread now...I just listed my ScaleKraft VW Hebmüller transkit on Ebay not ten minutes ago - item # 110531443934, in case anyone is curious.

Let me know if you repop the Phantom Corsair.

i have the 356 abarth and a number of Mini variants too. i wish i had bought at least two of each and some other stuff i wanted too but i only ordered once sort of as a test (he passed with flying colors on all accounts).

i might be tempted to trade off the abarth if one had something worthy. i actually bought it to replace a fujimi enthusiast kit body with the roof pillars snapped. i would sell the body and base kit for something in the hood of a bill. pm if interested.

I thought his kits were pretty interesting. At times, the quality was iffy but the models were worth the effort. At one time I had the Abarth, a Cord sedan, the Ferrari Lusso, and this monster. The Golden Arrow is the only one I built. I've sold off the rest.

Here's the Golden Arrow with another rare resin kit--the Etzel 1928 Stutz Blackhawk. These were contemporaries so it's fun to show them together. The Arrow was a real bear to put together--lots of pinholes in the radiator screens, and you had to scratchbuild a lot of parts including most of the interior.

I bought this from Ed Cervo at Island Collectibles (always great service, by the way). When I sent him photos, he told me that he had never seen another built example. I'm told that there were only about 25 of these kits produced before Guido crashed on the mountain.

Rare and unusual, and I don't know that I'd ever want to tackle another one. It was a trial.

I've been looking for a ScaleKraft Porsche 356 Abarth transkit for two years. I haven't found one yet.

I believe some one did buy his resin molds as there seemed to be an endless supply of 356 Abarth Carreras and other resin kits he produced on Ebay going for about $100 a pop. I had been look for an abarth carrera for about 10 years yearsAir Trax is producing a Lotus Cortina

The kits were on EBay earlier this year. BTW I have a Porsche AMerica trans kit for the revell speedster I resin casted about 15 years ago. Let me know if you want to see it. I still have the molds for it.

That I would like to see especially if you can cast more!
