Harold Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Here's one I started last December. Its the old Revell EXP, painted with Testor's Fiery Orange laquer and covered with Dupli- Color Clear Top Coat. I swiped the Mustang TRX wheels from a set I bought at Dean's. The interior uses he front half from an '89 Probe and the back section from the EXP. I also swapped in the Probe subframe and made spindles from sprue and brass rod. I didn't like the fact that all the clear parts were heavily tinted, so I commandeered the lenses from a Monogram Bronco, and the windshield was made from a 2- liter Faygo bottle. The motorcycle and trailer are from the MPC '80 Monte Carlo. There's a few rough edges on this one, but this was my first ambitious build in two years (just trying to get my chops back ).
Kris Morgan Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 That looks very nice in that color and, the TRX wheels work very well. Checking out yours reminded me of the old MPC EXP I have been holding onto to do a tuner buiid.
Scalper Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Cool car. you don't see many of those anymore. Nice job on all vehicles.
Greg Cullinan Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Nicer than most 1/1's of this car.Really dig the trailer and chopper with it. And the color choice is real convincing.
Foxer Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 haha Ford EXP .. somehow I thought I was going to see an SUV ,, what a NICE surprise! That's a great looking build there. and something different.. like it a lot
Diecast lover 101 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I own a 1982 Ford Exp give me a ball park price as of how much you'd sell me this for.
Luc Janssens Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Neat build!I have an Mpc and in my mind it will get an SVO (Taurus) powerplant update and Aoshima aftermarket wheels.
Tom Geiger Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 It's a hidden secret that the MPC kits of this era actually were very nice detailed kits! The EXP, Daytona, Cavalier etc... all of them!
Luc Janssens Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) It's a hidden secret that the MPC kits of this era actually were very nice detailed kits! The EXP, Daytona, Cavalier etc... all of them!Too bad the downsize- and economizing prevented Mpc from creating kits of subjects like the '77-'90 Caprice/Impala and '78-'83 Malibu's, to name two well selling nameplates.. darthsideous Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 What a nice piece of work! The fact that you made the windshield from a bottle, amazing. I've had my share of windshield problems, but haven't tried that yet.
