Chuck Most
Just wondering, has anyone built this kit, or does anyone at least have any shots of the kit contents? I'm a little leery of these old Japanese kits, because quite a few of them have proportion problems and many were originally motorized, and that really compromises the interior and chassis. Any hiccups of that sort with this kit?
Chuck Most
If you want to take some pictures, feel free. I can't seem to find any images of the unbuilt kit online (and few decent images of built examples). A guy I know has this exact kit sealed, but he will not open it... unless, of course, I cough up the $20 he wants for it first!
spkgibson
I hope you didn't buy that thing,If you did it is a waste of money,I built one when I was around 15,And everything in the kit was out of proportion,The body was complete junk,It does however have nice box art,I personally would try and find the MPC Super Hawk,That is a nice kit,But to make it fully factory stock,You would also need to find the MPC Monza for the wheels,As the Skyhawk doesn't have the stock wheels just custom mags,So for the money you would waste on that kit you could get the 75 Skyhawk And a 70's Monza to kit bash! Chuck Most
Looks 'acceptable'. It's certainly better, proportions-wise, than the old Nitto Mustang II! I'm planning a drag car, so I can live with a few gaffes here and there. Spike- I was never even aware there was an MPC Skyhawk- I'll keep my eyes peeled now, though! Thanks for the photos! Casey
Here are a few pics of the Nitto Kogaku Buick Skyhawk, courtesy of an eBay listing. Points for engraving the "BUICK" nameplate on the nosepiece!
Snake45
That's pretty! I'd love to polish that lovely blue plastic.
stavanzer
In the words of Eric Frank Russell, "I'd Buy That For a Quarter!" I think it looks fine, and I truly like the blue plastic it's molded in.
steveracer
Doesn’t look bad from here better than a lot of other certain models I have seen you could build a DeKon Monza out of that. Al Holberts perhaps.
Oldcarfan27
I wouldn't mind trying my hand at one of those. Too bad you'll make a fleece payment trying to get one on Ebay though. Chuck Most
Looks good to me. But in the near decade since I've pondered this potential purchase (guy still had the kit as of 2017, by the way), I've managed to accumulate a number of MPC Monza promos, so if my Skyhawk drag car ever gets put to plastic I'm probably going to start from there. monza77
I own a real 1977 Monza and have the Nitto Monza kit. The kit is 1/24 scale and is noticeably larger than the MPC and Amt kits. The body is not bad proportion wise, maybe a little slab sided in places but careful sanding should fix this. It is a motorized kit so the rest of the parts are pretty much useless except for the dash, seats and wheels which are ok. Overall, it was better than I expected. Much better than the AMT monza kits, which are caricatures in my opinion. I have seen the Nitto Skyhawk kit and except for the front and rear bumper caps all my comments apply to the Skyhawk. Looking again at the front and and rear caps on the Skyhawk the only difference between the two kits is the chevrolet script. Being 1/24 and if I can find another intend to use it as a basis for a Dekon Monza. I now know I can use the Skyhawk as well. Thanks
