lrlocke01 Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I have been there, been a few years though. It was pretty good, I would definately go back. There is also a muscle car museum not far from there I always wanted to check out but have not yet. it's supposed to have alot of cool cars.
envious8420 Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I've been to both, the muscle car museum was a better time for me , but the movie car place on the strip is very neat also.
Smart-Resins Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Went to the the Holly Wood one. Actually we lived in Sevierville, so we got in for free when we showed our license! Was very nice. The muscle car museum is in Sevierville, but we never did go there. Spent too much time in Dolly wood and splash country since we had golden passes to both. LOL. Sure miss it there! If ya go, make sure to tell Herbie I said hi! LOL. Another great one there is the Ripley's believe it or not! Olso, I forget the name of it, but the upside down place was fun too! I can tell ya a few good places. I can also help point ya to the back roads! May be longer in distance, but WILL save you time! LOL. That strip is killer horrible this time of year from before Sevierville right through and up the hill. The 10 miles or so will take you litterally hours to travel on the weekend! So be prepaired! By the way, if you are a believer, there is a very cool museum on the back side of gatlinburg!
Smart-Resins Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 By the way, just past the pork BBQ place in Seveirville, there is a nice little hobby shop on the right going into town. Hopefully anyways, he was two years ago when we left.
coopdad Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 The muscle car museum in Sevierville I have heard was awesome (I have only see the cars on TV shows). The name is Floyd Garrett's Muscle car museum; http://musclecarmuseum.com/ Have heard the one in Gatlinburg is more of a touristy. john
samm1970 Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 I want to thank you guys for the info on the museums.I looked at both websites and they are both reasonably priced compared to other attractions.Cheap enough that my son I are going to both. Thank's again, Sam
1320wayne Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Hey Sam, here is a link to my photo album from when my wife and I stopped in Gatlinburg for the day as we were traveling across country from Oregon to Florida. It was a cool stop and not very pricey. This was about three years ago so I'm not sure if all of the cars are the same. http://public.fotki.com/1320wayne/museums/star-cars-museum-ga/
Smart-Resins Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Some of the newer vehicles like the sports cars and tuners they rotate between the different stars cars museums. We lived there and wet about 3 1/2 years ago and testify they had some different cars in there from when Wayne went. But most all of the old cars are all the same ones. Its just the ones in the front lobby area they change. Well, besides Herbie. Hes been there for like ever. LOL. Hopefully he is still there.
Rick R Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Years ago the Gatlinburg Museum bought a bunch of Barris' cars and the fiction that went along with them and that was the biggest part of the display. Neat to look at maybe once, but many of the cars, like the Black Beauty from the old Green Hornet TV series, were NOT originally built by Barris and were ruined by his alterations in the 70s. I hope that's changed by now... Gatlinburg is a legendary tourist spot for many in the Southeast, incredibly crowded, but it's friendly there and the food can be wondrous. The Garrett Museum is a great place, and if you have time and interest Oak Ridge is an hour or so away, lots of history there...
DAYTIME Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 The muscle car museum in Sevierville is great. They have a lot of rare and low mileage cars. Its a great place to take some reference pics too.
