Darin Bastedo Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) While the ferrari Berlinetta Lusso is a nice car it's far too common, and has no significant race history, and while I love the Ferrari GTO there are just far too many of them. This is my new #1. The 1963 Michelotti Jaguar Le Mans. A one of a kind coachbuilt show car built on the remains of a wrecked Jaguar D-type whose best Le Mans Finish was third. Fast, beautiful and rare, this baby is for me! Edited July 18, 2010 by Darin Bastedo
elan Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Well it's time to get building, when you are done maybe to could cast the body in resin for those of us with no scratch building skills.
Modelmartin Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 That is pretty cool. A GTO is not exactly a "belly-button" car but this one is even less so. I hope you do it up right.

It will quite a while before this one gets built a lot of drawings and planning must be done first. Edited July 16, 2010 by Darin Bastedo
Junkman Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) I just love Italian coachbuilt one-offs. Provided your consent, I suggest to extend this thread and start collecting them here. This could probabaly end up being the only thread in the world on the subject. I take the liberty to add one of my favourites, the Corvette Rondine by Pinin Farina: Please feel free to delete this post if you don't like my idea. Edited July 16, 2010 by Junkman

I have a few more coach built special I'd like to post also.
LDO Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Ulf Norinder's 250 GTO rebodied by Drogo. (Body later removed from GTO chassis and put on a less valuable Ferrari)
Modelmartin Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 (edited) Vignale, usually known for some pretty exotic ferraris and other Italian sports cars did make a VW Beetle! This went to Mexico when new! Here is a Saoutchik Bugatti T50. The Bugatti is about a '32 but the body was built in the early '50s. Same deal here but a T57SC (same chassis as the Atlantic coupe) with a mid '50s Ghia Body. Jon Cole Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I suspect one would need to be a bit of an automotive historian to know the difference between a rare factory car, and a coach built one off. I'm not. So I will post what I suspect may be rare coach built cars: Sigma Grand Prix Ghia Ferrari Ferrari Rainbow Bertone A really BIG coach: Or this coach:
