mackinac359 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Here is my take on Revell of Germany's Peterbilt "353." I shortened the wheelbase, swapped in Italeri rear tires, AMT spoke wheels from an Autocar, resin fenders from Spauldings (lengthened for full running boards), scratchbuilt 123" BBC hood, modified the cab for no visor, small roof lights, single air cleaner and a daycab. I have to touch up the muck-up by the left headlamp mount on the radiator surround. I knocked the headlamp off and chipped the paint off the side. Here's how the kit is suggested to be built. I am very skeptical that any 353's were built with a tilting 359 hood, 63" sleeper and a Varashield. A real 353 looked more like this: Or this: I'm still thinking of some sort of quarter fenders and rear flaps for it. Additional pics and views are on the Workbench/Progress page on my site. Thanks for looking! Tim Quote
kingiguana Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Tim, all I can say is wow ! Your work and knowlege of these trucks amazes me. Those trucks You build look beyond real. Quote
ARTEMIS1759 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) That is sweet man. Nice color choice. You know. In all the time I saw this truck, never noticed the kit came with daimond plate fenders? Edited July 17, 2010 by ARTEMIS1759 Quote
Old Albion Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Tim, Another superb build!! I much prefer your version of the 353 to the Revell one. The Revell one looks strange to say the least. The colour you chose looks great. Nice build. Dave Quote
mackinac359 Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 ...And put Marmon logos on a 359 and call it a Marmon. On 7/17/2010 at 9:37 PM, highway said: Nice work as usual on yours, Tim. What do expect from Revell AG, though, they are the same that messed up a perfectly nice wrecker thinking a 359 could be modified into a 379! They couldn't even modify the kit to put the proper Cat engine in Can Do! Quote

loghauler70 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Very nice Tim what a 353 should look like not a 359 with diamond plate fenders Awesome job. Mark Quote
SpreadAxle Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 (edited) Cool. I like the fenders you built for it. I believe in one of the pix is a Revell AG Black Widow kit. That was my first Revell AG kit. Seeing the bix brought back a good memory. Edited July 18, 2010 by FlatbedKW Quote
Pete1980 Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 You know Ive learned not to say wow any more, it goes somthing more like NEXT!!! or BRING IN THE NEXT ONE!!! or DONE DRILL SERGEANT!!!Nice job man Way to show them> Quote
daniel gailloux Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Hello Tim Another great project. It is the first time I see the fender extending all the way across the botom of the cab. It does make the truck look rugged. It ends up this color looks good on this truck. Best regards Daniel Gailloux Quote
Kostas Parchas Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Very nice truck Tim!!! I think that with all these trucks in progress you are going to need very soon a new addition to your truck room LOL Kostas. Quote
