jjsipes Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Here is my Revell 1958 Impala that I just recently finished up. I stripped the chrome off the side trim and glued it in place prior to painting. The color is Tamiya Coral Blue out of a spray car with Tamiya clear. First time using Tamiya primer, paint and clear on one model. Hand painted the strips on the seats since the decals didn't look right to me. Special mix of Model Master Interior Blue and Olds Engine blue I believe to get the Turqouise color which matched the reference pics I had. Bare-metaled the trim once painted. I also had to cut the rear portion of the interior floor piece just behind the rear seat to get the chassis up in the body all the way. When I went to put it all together the chassis hung down below the body just in front of the rear wheels. Simple solution since it had a seperate trunk floor. vaughn Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Nice clean build, but no pictures of interior to see what you were speaking of. Is that two colors on the bottom or am I just seeing things? Looks good. Both do.

I forgot to upload pic of interior, now up there. Jason S Edited September 15, 2010 by jjsipes

Raul_Perez Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 From what I can see, this looks like a really nice build...but the pics are a bit out of focus... Thanks for sharing,
Jim Gibbons Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Sweet! I was thinking of building this kit in the same colors used on yours. I'm impressed with your results, and it's the first I've seen done in that scheme. I had built a '62 TBird in coral blue. Is the Continental kit an option on the Revell version? I would like to build it without one.

gilsdropshop1 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 LOVE THOSE 58'S AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM
oldscool Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Nice job and great color choice. oldscool
charlie8575 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Very nice build-up. The color looks great on it and the interior, easily the worst part of that car to do because of the upholstery, is excellent. Charlie Larkin

codie27 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Very nice build, I have one of these stashed away, I think Im gonna have to pull it out and get some done on it.
jjsipes Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 THank you all for the comments. Im working on the Revell 1960 Impala now. Jason S
rustybill1960 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Another nice looking build Great looking paint job like the continental kit on the rear, nice choice Thank you for sharing Later Russ
impcon Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 My but ain't that pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The colour suits that car perfectly... It is amazing how the colour makes or breaks a model and while I have seen a whack of '58 Impala's in my day, I have to say that few came close to being as pretty as yours. Is that a factory colour? How about some pctures of your '60 as you work on it. What colours do you have in mind for that one?
