Hondo Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) Hope this is posted in the right area.... Trying to determine what kits come/came with in-line 6 cylinder engines. (1/25) (I did a search, but didn't get much on here) Thinking: 1950s 3100 Chevy pickup 1970s Plymouth Duster & Deora had "Slant 6" What else? What Ford kits had them? Thanks everyone! crazyjim Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 1937 Chevy Do you need 6's or you just wnat to know what kits they came in? I probably have a few laying about.
Hondo Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Pretty much looking for a resource. A list would be great, like DZ said. (For me, domestic & THANKS Jim, I'll keep that in mind) Mainly looking for the kits that in-line 6 engines came in. (And also, any 4 cylinder domestic ones) GM, Ford, Chrysler. But imports would be included if we list them. Thanks again

Sixties Sam Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 AMT 51 Chevy convertible has one. I assume the coupe and fastback 51's do too.

impcon Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Regarding Chevy 235 and Pontiac 261 engines - most of the kits that have Chevy six cylinders have the older style rounded valve covers or the ones with the hold down bolts go through the top of the valve cover. Does anyone make the flat top valve covers and the proper air cleaner for the '58-62 engines in resin? Thanks.
Modelmartin Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 AMT and Monogram 53 Corvette kits have the Blue Flame 6. XR-6 also had a slant six chrysler. How about the Monogram Red Baron pseudo WW1 airplane engine?

I beleive that there is a caster doing to air cleaner, but I don't recall who at this time, perhaps Ken Kitchen? Or, if you can find one, the Jada '60 Impala diecast has that aircleaner, too.
Hondo Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 WOW....... Awesome response, everyone. Great info, I really appreciate it. Hopefully, I'll be building something soon with a 6 banger in it. (A little change of pace....) Thanks again !
impcon Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 WOW....... Awesome response, everyone. Great info, I really appreciate it. Hopefully, I'll be building something soon with a 6 banger in it. (A little change of pace....) Thanks again ! It's always nice to see something built different from a top of the line muscle or luxury car. That's one of the reasons why the new '62 Impala seems to appeal to a lot of guys - because it isn't a SUper Sport with a four speed for a change. I'd like to see one of thoise built with a 6 cylinder and a three speed standard transmission.. bench seat, shifter on the column type of thing. I know that the model has a bench seat and I applaud the manufacturer for giving us that option. I think that building something as a more mundane, common family car makes for a neat model. I like and appreciate the Super Sports and such but I sure do like to see something that would have been more of a family car. It's just a change.. and change is good. Well - change is usually good.
