The "new" issue from a few years ago did not have plastic tires, but newly tooled rubber tires to match the 1:1 Black Widow showcar that was designed after the original model kit.

Neither the Black Widow, nor the Green Hornet originally came with plastic tires. They both originally came with rubber tires, but the manufacturer Monogram used went out of business decades ago. When the Green Hornet was reissued, they cribbed the tires from the Dragstrip Hot Rod (Deuce). I don't know whether they would interchange with the Black Widow, but as you noted, they tooled up new vinyl tires for it. I kinda prefer the originals, but that's just me.

Whenever I saw the ribbed rubber tires in junk collections... it took me right back to 1962 when I built mine. I true flashback to age 7. It was a cool kit then. I should do another one. But I would have to dig up those OG tires first.

The Monogram Black Widow, AMT's 1927 Model T & XR6 Double Kit and AMT 1957 Chevrolet 3 in 1, where my very first model kits I received from Santa as a child in the early 1960s. Wish I still had them. Would love to build them now without assistance from my Dad and much older Cousin LOL...

Brings back great memories from the 1960s along with the X15 experimental rocket.

The Black Widow was reissued in 2014, the stock end of the '27 Ford is in the Vintage Police Car which was reissued in 2020, and the '57 Chevy 3n1 was last reissued in 2022.  So 3 of the 4 shouldn't be too hard to find, albeit not necessarily in the box art from your childhood.
