unclescott58 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Just ordered AMT's newest release of the kit, two days ago. So, I had to see if anyone else has build one here. And a nice one it is! I'm impressed, and hope mine turns out as nice.
GT4494 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 (edited) Very nice model! Hope you get a set of "under ride" traction bars soon. The wheel hop will shake out your fillings otherwise. Edited July 16, 2016 by GT4494
Bob Ellis Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 My Sunbeam painted as Don Adams personal car an in the opening credits. This was the Matchbox 1980 issue but the same.
FordRodnKustom Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Well done. Great looking sports car. I like that you built it stock.
DumpyDan Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 And you should be happy with it, turned out beautiful
Bob Ellis Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Like a lot of the 1970s AMT kits before computers, the fit is so so. The front end is picky. Sits funny. Not everybody is going to like it.
Sledsel Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I cannot wait to get a few of these. One must have an AMT NASCAR 351, and another will have a supercharged something (Ford of course) Possibly a third as a road racer
unclescott58 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 My Tiger arrived in the mail today. Looks like a pretty good kit. About what I expected.
feretzrus Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Beautiful! I notice many talk about the front being a bit too high. Don't have one of these but would like to get one. Has anyone figured out the issue?
MrObsessive Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Beautiful! I notice many talk about the front being a bit too high. Don't have one of these but would like to get one. Has anyone figured out the issue? I have the reissue (yellow car on the box) and an old builtup and it seems to me some shaving down of the front suspension might be in order. That, and maybe re-position the front spindles so that the wheels go further up into the front fenders. Very nice kit either which way, and a super nice build! Of course, I'd have to fashion both a hardtop and uptop for mine if I ever decide to build one. I'm funny that way about convertibles unless they're racers............got to have either one of those on it!
robertw Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 The Tiger kit is available again. Was in my LHS a couple of weeks ago and there was one sitting on the shelf, just about got into a tug-of-war with my buddy as to who was going to get it ( I won ). Already have it on my winter build list.
MeatMan Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I agree with everyone else! Nice clean build, very well done.I bought the kit two weeks ago at a closing hobby shop at a discount. Glad to see it can turn out so well!

GT4494 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Realize that in a real Tiger the front cross member protects the oil pan and there is very little ground clearance. In fact the exhaust system runs through the x-member not under it. I watched one you tube video where they took out the plastic spacer and the oil pan is way too low. Realistically you need to raise the spindle height.
