bitner Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Here's the latest. It's AMT's original 1971 issue of the Ford Louisville, with a later issue of the tanker trailer. The tractor went together perfect. I changed out the kit's chrome wheels for some spoke units from some Ford C series cabovers. I added a home cast AC unit on the cab and made the Texaco decals myself. I spray painted it Testors gloss red. I've never really liked this kit or truck much until this build. I've actually gotten to like it, and have a half dozen or more variants in the closet to build. The trailer was a pain compared to the truck. I've only built this kit one time before, in 1988 when I was in high school. It just did not want to fit together well. I fought it all the way, and while it's not perfect I called it close enough. I made the Texaco emblems on the trailer also, along with the hazard placards. the tank is spray painted Testors metallic silver, with the frame and suspension painted the same red as the tractor. It gives the look of a typical no frills fleet truck, which are by far my favorite I'll try and replace these pics with better ones this weekend. I apologize for the poor quality of these. Cheers: Bill
Chuck Most Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 The photos are good enough for me to tell it's a very well built rig. Love those Louisvilles.
Missing in Action Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Hey Bill! Thats a great lookin' rig you got there...Give Louisvilles a chance...they'll grow on you!!!
mackinac359 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Nicely done. The all red tractor is spot on for the old livery of Texaco. Tim
Ben Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 That has to be one of the best built examples of those two kits I've ever seen! Beautiful work!
Jim B Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Nice job! The LNT8000 looks great. I agree with you on the tanker. It just doesn't go together well. I really struggled with the fit on my Amoco tanker. Yours looks good.
cowboysevens Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 that is a sharp lookin rollin refinery, the paint looks great and you did a superb job on the details. this is a most excellent biuld!!
chuckyr Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Nice work. I like your style. I'm with you, I like the utilitarian, fleet look of truck models. You don;t see enough of them.
Guest Johnny Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Outstanding build! Ihas just the right look of a fleet hauler! Can't wait to see your future builds of this kind!
