Kanedge
Great concept Dr Cranky, and you are executing it well. Great work.
Dr. Cranky
Thanks, K.S., the primer has dried nicely overnight, so that means I can get going on the paint as soon as I figure out what will work best. Stay tuned in.
evilone
Looks sweet bro gotta do some heavy engine mods to push all that weight though. Cant wait till you do the engine up
Dr. Cranky
Well, this sucker is going to be a curbside, but I did hear from the driver of this vehicle that the engine is really a beast, so I have to take his word for it. Dr. Cranky
A couple of new vids went up, but I had some difficulty with sound so I just edited the videos down to show how the next two coats of paint went on the model . . . my Iwata Eclipse is rising to the challenge once again, and the Vallejo Model Air paint is working beautifully, stay tuned in for more pictures . . . Dr. Cranky
Here's the first basecoat of greyblack . . . this is going to provide all the shadows and subtle shade to the model . . .
Dr. Cranky
Here's some of the grey basecoat going on . . . there will be three shades of grey: medium, medium-light, and light. This picture perfectly shows the color gradation (CM) between the three stages . . . from light to dark . . .
Dr. Cranky
Here is another good picture that shows the three colors being used. Remember the body already has 3 grey shades in the modulation. The tanks in the back have the medium-light shade, and the turret is still in the medium grey shade, and this gives you an idea of the subtlety. I hope you can see it. Another angle: And one more: Let me know what you think, please . . . there's still PLENTY OF MORE WORK to be done on this one!
Tony T
Holy Shamoly!! Keep it going, there Dr. C! You got my attention again! Hey - I am over a week behind in my Dr. Cranky Video viewing...gotta find time to catch up!!

Dr. Cranky
Here's the body before masking . . . I mixed a little bit of khaki and the med grey and then using the Micron C I added a bit more interest around details and panels . . . Dr. Cranky
Here's the taping for the cammo, a really random pattern, so let's keep our fingers crossed . . . see what happens . . .
Dr. Cranky
All right, the moment of truth . . . the unveiling of the paint . . . I have to say I like it but now it's just crying out for some chipping and weathering (LOL! A build is never finished!)
Dr. Cranky
Doctor Cranky is salivatin' for this one to get some weathering but I'm going to start the weathering with the chassis and the Zombie crucher/crusher/roller first! Here are a couple of more pics, hope you won't mind:

Dr. Cranky
Thanks, Harry, it's what makes it fun and addictive . . . the process and the discoveries! Tony, you bet . . . while I allow the paint to dry and cure over night, I am going to start working on the chassis . . .
Kanedge
Seriously tough, there is a lot I can learn from you here. Great build Dr Cranky. Look forward to seeing how you approach your weathering.
Dr. Cranky
Thanks, Kane . . . this is the first build in a long time where I have to stop fifteen times per step in order to video and photograph . . . which is perhaps why it's coming along well, there's plenty of time for each coat of paint to dry! Stay tuned in . . .
made007
please, put some detail on that skull with wings emblem, LOL, thats cool
Dr. Cranky
I will, Jose . . . when the time comes.
