eurotrashrabbit Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Anyone seen a 1/25 or 24th of this car I have owned 3 of the real ones it would be cool to have a 24th scale
highway Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 I'm not sure if there has been one in 1/24 (25) scale or not, but I'm almost certain I've seen one in a military version in 1/35 scale.
VW Dave Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 I'm almost certain I've seen one in a military version in 1/35 scale. Odds are it was a Kübelwagen you saw, and Steve is unfortunately right...comparing the Kübel and Thing is like apples and oranges. To the best of my knowlegde, no kit of the Type 181 'Thing' has been made. A very enterprising modeler converted a Hasegawa Kübel into an off-road Thing, but that's the only one I've seen.
Chuck Most Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Kinda like comparing a WWII vintage Willys military Jeep to a CJ5 Renegade. Yep, or like comparing an '08 Model T to a '27 Model T. Totally different monsters, even if they look identical. It would seem to me a no-brainer for someone to kit this (plasic OR resin), I'd be FIRST IN LINE to buy one! (That and a Squareback.)
jeffs396 Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Here's a Jada diecast... It's a start anyway http://cgi.ebay.com/1973-VW-THING-1-24-KUBELWAGEN-YELLOW-CUSTOM-WHEELS-/190450318746?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item2c57b93d9a Same seller has several...
Mad Slammer Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Well, a friend of mine built this one mostly from scratch. . . He's a VW freak and everybody here calls him Jimmy Volky. . . He had this display table at a local show last year. . .
eurotrashrabbit Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 I have the 35th scale vacu formed kit i have had 2 of those kits they are actually vw things not kubelwagens. I like the yellow one was that completely scratch built?
