W-409 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Somehow this build makes me wanting to build something Highly Detailed too with photoetched parts etc. Great looking build, and that engine looks very good so far. Nice job on the paint too. Can't wait for more updates on this one.

Johnny1973 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Davin, Real nice detail in builting the General Lee.I am fan of The Dukes Of Hazzard.i can wait to see the finish General.
Jeff Johnston Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 really really impressive ! I've been General Lee'd put over the years but this is a very interesting build.
Terry Jessee Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I'm lovin' this. Fun to watch. You know, I've got all those parts, too. Never thought to use 'em on the General, but that's going to change, I think. I'll have to keep an eye on this build. Terry
moparmagiclives Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 hey thanks harry... im fairly new to the BMF as this is the 2nd car ive used it on ..lol i will giv the toothpick a try... thanks for the comments fellas. later days ... Davin Sometimg else you might like to try for the same effect is a cuitical stick. Its just like a big tooth pick, but pointed on one end and cut at a 45 or 30 deg angle on the other for a nice flat surface. I stole mine from the little miss, but I'm sure you can buy them also . It does make a nice tool though
Bluzboy66 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 How I check my spelling, Is type the first 3 letters into my toolbar, It wiil show you the propper spelling..... the PROPER spelling is P-R-O-P-E-R. ....jess funnin. Davin, I'm sooooo diggin' this build. I've been procrastinating a General build for many years. Well......actually.......I did build one when the original kit first came out. Your car is going to look killer. Mike

The70judgeman Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 First...This build is awesome. All the cutting, scratch building, photo-etch parts, and detailing are just fantastic. Second...I can't believe that people turned this thread into such a pissing match. Everybody thinks their way is right and everybody elses way is wrong. LET THE GUY BUILD HIS CAR AND SHOW IT OFF. Compliment and thank him for sharing. Everybody also knows the General Lee was a '69 Charger, BUT '68, '69, and '70 Charger's were all used as "General Lee's". They were hacked up cars and parted together and painted to "look" like '69 Charger General Lee's. It was all done at a little shop, can't remember where though, and ANY '68-'70 Charger would do regardless of engine, color, options etc, etc, etc... They're mish mash cars. There were only a handful of "real" General Lee's anyway for close-ups and show. The rest were smashed, jumped, and just plain destroyed for our entertainment and enjoyment ("enjoyment" used lightly). So, Thank You Davin for sharing your build. It's really coming together and looking great! Just can't believe how many pages are on this thread of people just nitpicking your build to death.
car-man666 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 that ,,,is ,,,hard core detailling ,,,,what A job, 2 thumbs way way up
Guest Dr. Odyssey Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Just saw the movie today. Shake & Bake! 70 Chargers were used? I thought they were significantly different than the 68/69 especially the nose.
The70judgeman Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Just saw the movie today. Shake & Bake! 70 Chargers were used? I thought they were significantly different than the 68/69 especially the nose. "68-'70 Charger's were all the same basic shape. '71 brought a new body change.
MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Just saw the movie today. Shake & Bake! 70 Chargers were used? I thought they were significantly different than the 68/69 especially the nose. 1968 - 70 Chargers are the same body design but with only little changes. For one the '68 grill an tail end. "69 grill has a devider bar ('68s doesn't have this), an the '69 tail ends have long tail lights that fill's most of the panel ('68's had two round tail lights per side). '70's had a open mouth grill with the bumper wrapped around the front end, the fenders an hood an val was all different. But a '68 or '69 whole front clip could be bolted onto a 1970 Charger though to back date it. The '70's tail ends was almost like the '69's but it had a piece of trim around the tail lights area all the way across though. The head lamp doors on the '68 an '69 models was run by vac, where as the '70's was run with a electric motor in the center behind the grill. The 2005 Dukes movie did in fact use 26 chargers for it's making. an Yes they did use afew 1970 models for the rule of the General Lee in the 05 movie. The one buck car unit was a 1970 Charger chop up.
Hiusken33 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Ok now that its slowed down here. The progress during the week will be short, since i work 9 hrs a day. But i do have a small update.. Romell R Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Man Davin this is looking good bro, good job. have yet to see a better General
ZombieHunter26 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Never really been a Dukes fan, but you've got me sucked in with the detail you've poured into this. I think I'm with several others when I say I can't wait to see the finished product. On another note, I want to start trying PE and BMF sometime. Just haven't gotten the balls to move past styrene (I -just- moved over from superglue for everything to using mainly plastruct plastic weld solvent.) and out of my comfort zone into even more detailed stuff. Every day I come on here I see something I want to attempt, but haven't figured out how to do without wasting money I don't have botching it up. I think with time, I'll get over that. Great build man! Keep it up, I'll definitely be stopping back through to check the progress.
