Styrene Question

Hello

I think one of my next scratch building projects will be some kind of rv or camping trailer. I will need some sheet styrene for the sides of the camper but I dont know what kind to get. I need that ribbed camper kind of look. You know, that aluminum stuff that campers are made of. Here is a picture of a camper with the texture I want to replicate.

Evergreen Styrene has different types of sheet plastic that you could use. I know there is alot that is used in the Model trains that you maybe able to find something like that siding or maybe something close to what you are looking for.

Yeah, Evergreen or Plastruct would be the places to check. You can buy everything online which is fine for the basic stock sheet, strips etc. I prefer to buy the specialty sheets in person so I can really get a good look at it, because the scale listed is often pretty vague. Any decent model railroad shop should have a good stock of styrene you can paw through.

Personally I prefer working with Evergreen's plastic but Plastruct offers many parts unavailable from Evergreen so I have a pile from both companies.

Evergreen also sells a book that is pretty helpful if you don't have any experience scratchbuilding with plastic.

The Next chance I get I will run over to the hobby shop and look for some specialty stuff.

you know, there is a kit out there called "open road camper/racers wedge"

it has the type of camper that sits in the back of a pickup truck

though i understand scratchbuilding is cool i just thought id toss it out there...just in case you wanna cut some corners

Evergreen has a ribbed styrene sheet stock that will be VERY close to replicating the aluminum covering on that trailer!

Actually Eelco it's the style of camper that sits in place of the Pickup's Box.
