Railfreak78 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Here is one that I posted a very long time ago in the work bench section. This one I could not get the hood to set right but over all was a fun build. I will say there are a few things I will correct when I build the next one like the gap in the inner fenders where you can see the tires through the gap. Enjoy!
Lunajammer Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I approve. Nice choice of wheels. I just love this kit. Not too many sedans look sexy but this would be one. Almost any muscle wheel looks good on this.
spkgibson Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Nice color combination, Those wheels set off the car nicely, Very well done clean build.
RodneyBad Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Sharp looking Monaco. I can kick my self in rear for lettin the one go i only paid $300 for. But sold it for 1G, Then they ran it into the ground. paint, engine and interior looks Great. Nice work..
Kodiak Island Modeler Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 This is well done, and the hood issue is one that I've run into with many of the old MPC era models. I've had some success with placing the hood in warm water for a few minutes, bending it closer to the shape I want, and quickly running it under cold water to "set" it.
Guest Sickfish Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Clean job on a pretty basic kit, Brian The hood issue.... Mate I've got several of these kits & a couple are "in-progress" I've found it's not the hood that's the problem it's the mounting bar the hood sit's on! It's too flat If you're going to do another 1 then cut that mounting bar off & reposition it... Or even better, ( don't know if you know or not?) use the '71 AMT Charger kit as a donor.... Chassis/engine/engine bay etc.... Trust me, it all fits with moderate/minor mods Cheers Cliffo
Jon Cole Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 On the top of the firewall... I see a raised spot in the middle, right at the base of the windshield. Perhaps stack up several layers of masking tape on the windshield... to prevent damage, and moto tool that bump. Other idea... buy small rare earth magnets, add to each rear corner.
Chuck Most Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I hope they bring back the two-door version, while they're at it.
