Sadly it is often difficult to properly convey a thought on a chat board or forum.

Been there! Likely will go there again!

Sometimes it's simply poor wording, or a misunderstood intent. Sometimes, yes, it is just plain bashing. But I truly think that for the most part, people mean well. They consider what they are saying to be creative input, and the recipient of the comment may or may not take it the right way. It'll happen. We all put our feet in our mouths from time to time, right?

Not sure what all the problems were but I can say that whenever I see one of John's builds, they truly are impressive and we could all learn from him.

In regards to the interpretation of one's comments, I am reminded of something one of my bosses once told me when we got email years ago. He warned me to be careful in my comments as an email, much like a post on a forum or chat room, is an one way conversation. The person on the other end cannot always detect the tone or inference you make with your comments. Add in the thin skin and quick response tempers some of us have and it makes for a perfect storm.

I am glad that Harry was quick to see a problem developing and acted in the right manner. It is a shame that he has to watch us so closely but again we all think, act and behave differently.

Keep building them John, I like to see what you are working on.

Uh, guys, having seen the word used quite negatively several times in this thread, I would like to make it clear that my screen name is "basher" because I am a "kit basher". Kits will be the only thing I will ever bash! I really enjoy looking at Mr. Teresi's builds, and agree that it would be a huge loss if he stopped sharing them with us. Please don't misinterpret me! :D:)

I missed it too, but I probably would have tuned out.

John, I agree with every positive thing that has been said about you and your work, although I don't know you personally, but your work speaks volumes for your mastery, skills, and amazing eye for building jaw-dropping work.

I hope you will stick around and keep sharing your fine work with us!

Best, Doctor Cranky

John - I will bash you if you quit building and posting. I truly enjoy and learn from your builds. They are motivational.

The bashers are like the annoying kids in class - they contribute nothing substantive yet take up a majority of our time and attention.

You know, I'm going to apologize too, and it's for what I'm about to say, and to make this perfectly clear, I'm not talking about anyone specifically in my following comments!

I can't keep my mouth shut anymore! I find it quite funny in the "Rainbows and Unicorns" phase this forum has been demonstrating lately, threads like this and also builds that are clearly not researched for any attempt at even a hint of correctness such as wiring, hoses, and other details added just to add "bling" and create a "wow" factor get praised to high heaven, but highly detailed builds that are truly masterpieces just get overlooked. There are two builds, and to not offend the thin skinned among us I will not mention names for ANY reason (SO DON'T ASK ME IF I MEAN YOU!), that I watched through the entire build process, one from the "bling" crowd and one from the "masterpiece" crowd. Guess which got more attention?? That's right, the "bling" crowd!! This is just my personal opinion, but if this forum wants to be inspired and learn to build better models, start paying attention to the true masterpieces being shared here instead of the bling added to something that is otherwise poorly built. I learned many years ago when I first started judging contests, $100 of aftermarket products does NOT make a better built model, it just makes an already poorly built model a $100 pile of junk!!

Love me or hate me for my opinion, but if more members here would wake up and smell the coffee, you'd learn like I did who the truly great builders are here, and they don't need to be gloryhounds to build great models!

I have to wonder as well, just what exactly do you mean by "the light skinned" people?

OOPS, I meant "Thin Skinned"!! :) I'll go fix that so I don't offend anyone, and by thin skinned, I mean those who can't take criticism correctly.

Hey John,

I am sorry you feel you have to apologize, in my book, you have nothing to apologize for. You have always been kind and gracious and generous with your replies, you have responded to a LOT of questions (including a bunch from me) on technique, how you did something, what you are trying to do, etc. and I for one am glad you are here. Your builds speak for themselves, anytime you put something you love up on public display, well, you can seen what happens, thank goodness not all the time, but.....

Your builds inspire me, they entertain me, they motivate me to try a little harder, be a little more patient, and to keep the passion going. I build because it is a passion, and I believe you do too. Just keep doing what you do, don't respond to the negative, just do your thing brother. Look forward to seeing more of your work, and hope you stick around for a long time.

Mike

I find it interesting how so many people who did not see what actually happened yesterday, that John caused and is "apologizing" for, have assumed they know what happened and (ignorantly in my opinion) jumped to his defense. It's nice you all support him and like his work, but it is not about his building or regular posting style.

It is about a series of unwarranted rant-like comments he wrote making terrible and false accusations about some board members. He even continued his attack when no response was given by those he was accusing.

There are at least two people he has not apologized to for what he wrote on this open forum yesterday, yet he has had plenty of time to come here for support... Even though he brought it on himself.

I am not trying to start anything, just being honest.

So now the moderators can make judgements (quite erroneously I might add) about someone's mental stability, abilities or well being? If you are extremely well educated in the field of psychology or well-versed in psycho-analytical terminology, that's one thing, but if you just aren't.....then stop.

Man, what are you guys doing to this place, John apologized because he was attacked and responded in kind. Push the kindest person in the world into a corner, and they will respond in accordance to the situation. Go back and review John's posts from day one, then perhaps a lot more apologies are in order. Someone gets pushed enough and strikes back, happens every day, doesn't it?

Why can't people just start talking about model cars again? I just can't help but wonder why so many people just won't start talking about model cars again, and why everyone can't stop with the last word and everything else?

I should be a bigger, better man than this, but seeing one of my favorite builders under fire makes me take a stand.

Please stop this, and get back to the business at hand.
