David Thibodeau Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Very cool kit, Simplified, but definitely impressive out of the box and a bargain for under $70.00. A base kit for superdetailing is definitely possible. Exterior Paint: Scale finishes Grabber blue and OMNI 2 part urethane clear Interior Paint: Scale finishes Interior Black Stripes: Kit supplied They are bit tricky to apply. Also the front middle bumper stripe fits odd. The rest of the kit is boxstock with decal bits and baremetal foil added in certain area. HERE ARE THE SUBASSEMBLY PICS: The fitment of the glass on the body was very impressive. I used a wide sharpie for the borders on the inside of the glass.
David Thibodeau Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 Here are the final pictures. I apologize for undersized photobooth.
hossalimi Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Hi Dave, The model looks great, as usual. I ordered mine today! How hard is it to lower the suspension? Also, I had heard rumors that SMS is coming out with a detail set for this kit. Any truth to that? Thanks
Jon Cole Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Your photobooth isn't too small, your model is too big! Nice job on that!
johnnyb Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 How were the window trims to paint? Did you cut your own masks? Great job, BTW! JB
Custom Mike Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) Beautiful work David, thanks for giving a great review! I should have mine in my hands in another week or so! Edited September 7, 2011 by Custom Mike
David Thibodeau Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 Hossolimi: Lowering the car will be tricky... The wheel wells are not that deep on the chassis itself. You can probably lower it a scale inch max. Not sure what SMS has coming out for the kit. JohnnyB: The windows were done freehand with a wide chisel sharpie. They are marked on the inside with a ridge to guide you. I guess you could mask them but I never have been a fan of that method. Thanks for the comments
oldscool Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I keep coming back again and again to look at this model. I don't have words to describe how good it looks. Maybe flawless will do. gus
RodneyBad Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I keep coming back again and again to look at this model. I don't have words to describe how good it looks. Maybe flawless will do. gus Ditto. David, Your a True Master builder. Makes me want to go out and get one just to have one. Or maybe just yours...
Tonioseven Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Looks fantastic!!! I'm especially impressed with the chassis detailing!
bsoder Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Hey Dave thanks for posting this, I've wanted to see a build of this kit and it looks good!..I'd be surprised if some aftermarket guys didn't make some goodies for extra detailing on this
Gregg Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Dave, could you do another one of your front yard shots like the yellow chopper?
whale392 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 This kit just SCREAMS for superdetailing! Thanks to your review, I will have to pick one up (and I DO NOT do 1/12th as everything I have is 1/24th-1/25th, or 1/48th!).
Guest Sickfish Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Very impressive! 3 up! I can't say i'm a Blue-Oval fan & i probably won't be buying this kit, well not for myself. If a mate or work friend wanted it/built, i'd most definitely recommend or build it for them What i'd really love would be a new Charger/Challenger in this scale... Now i would buy a dozen of them Anyone have any inside info' if Revell/any other company has plans for a large scale new Mopar?? Cheers Cliffo
3men2s Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Not Crazy about Big Scale but this one I do Like !!!
Guest Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Looks real sharp David! I guess we'll have to get a little creative to lower it down. The kit would definitely benefit from a decent lowering. Very nice work!
David Thibodeau Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 True it could be slightly lower but in reality I think the stance is pretty nice out of the box. Gregg -- I will see what I can do...I don't live in that "backyard" anymore.
S. Svendsen Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Nicely done. The kit looks great built up.
Tony T Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Great colour and a fabulous build. Looks like a kit worth getting for sure.
F1tommy Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Great looking model for that price. I think Revell has really gotten the glass fit down to perfection. I think the first Revell kit I built with the new style windows was the Ferrari California in 1/24th scale and they worked perfectly. my80malibu Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 That Baby is just screamin for some custom wheels and a little lower stance
