crazyjim Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I'll be making a trip to Grand Rapids, MI and was just wondering if anyone knows of a decent hobby shop up that way.
sweeper Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 There is Riders Hobby Shop on 28th street.
Chuck Most Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 EJ's is also worth checking out (is he still around?), but Ryder's is the main shop in town. Just beware- heavy traffic, and lots of idiot motorists in that city.
Fuel Coupe Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Spotlight hobbies which used to be Hobby Heaven is in Grand Rapids. Not sure if they allow walk-ins though..

2000-cvpi Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 If you have time, there is another hobby shop that is about an hour away from Grand Rapids. It is called Bob's Hobby Shop in Watervaliet Michigan. They have three levels of stuff and a above average kit selection. And Dean's Hobby Stop is also within a hours drive of GR.
Chuck Most Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 And Dean's Hobby Stop is also within a hours drive of GR. Well, depending on traffic. Last I knew MDOT still had east M-57 ripped to shreds!
Trucker_tim Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 If you have time, about 45mins to an hour away there is a good one in Muskegon. I cant remember the name but you could google it probably.

crazyjim Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Sounds like the same weather I lived through in Illinois. I plan to check out at least one of those places next month.
tim boyd Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I was going to say Rider's on 28th Street, but gosh, looks like about ten people already did that. Seriously though, it's one of the best hobby shops in the entire state. Have fun.....TIM
Chuck Most Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 And Jim- if you can, a trip out to Dean's is well worth the trip!
