Dominik Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Hi everybody, here i want to show you some pics (a lot of pics... ) from my open road camper and his diorama. It is the second part of the kit from Model King i used in "the look behind the track"-dio. I had a lot of fun in this build and tested some more technics, for example make water, work with decalsofter, airgun, wood, napkins and so on... Enjoy all the pics and dont be afraid to ask "how you made this or this" - i will not bite

crazyjim Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Dominik - please stop posting your builds/dioramas. I can't stand it anymore. Unbelieveable details in books, aquarium, etc., etc. I wouldn't be surprised if you said the TV works. Unreal and beautiful. But I have a bone to pick with you. If you were in FLA, why didn't you stop by and say hello? How did you do the water and the surfboard?
Foxer Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 This is a wonderful build and posing for the camera! The dirty dishes took me over the edge!
Dominik Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 Thank you Mike - was a great day to make photos. Dominik - please stop posting your builds/dioramas. Sorry Jim! That trip was years ago but i always must think about it. It was great...If i will travel to FL again, i will send you a mail and say "Hallo"! And sorry again for posting it - its not my intention, to damaging your health. But if it consoles you: the TV doesn't work Wich water do you mean? The water under the jetski is out of this Kit: There is a pre-painted base inclusiv. The water on the diorama i had made with silicone and pencil. To give you a tase, here a picture before and after build the surfboard: upcoming wip-details from the board...
Dominik Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) An excerpt from my building report - hope you can understand it: What do I need if I do not want to handle with plastic plates? Model strips - three in their masure 10x3mm: I had begun three strips to glue together. I recorded my first rough shape of a surfboard according to my ideas ... ...and cut it out. Edited October 1, 2011 by Dominik
Dominik Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) Then I cut back ... ...and flat front. The front I put on a ruler, ... ...loops around the top is very flat to. Edited October 2, 2011 by Dominik
Dominik Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Now I grind the surface smooth and begins to work the edges. Everything in the hand ... ...where I'm feeling more - I do not want to do it broken. Now I have change to finer sandpaper, up to 1000, so the surface is very smooth. Well, here are the results: Keel (bottom) ... ... Deck (top) ... ... Times and starboard (right):
Dominik Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 (edited) Thank you buddies! here i go with the finish of the surfboard: Well, I made next to the fin before i made the final paintjob. For this I took a peace of styrene, 1mm thick rough on it and paint me the form I imagine Then really generous cut and sanded according to my traditional methods... Now I have robbed the fin in strength, in which I do at my table edge for better lifting I sanded flat ...... ... Corrected again and cut to length: ... So I can fix them better on the surfboard. So, not glued or less blunt. Edited October 2, 2011 by Dominik
Dominik Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 I have the board with mahogany stained and sealed with clear lacquer. Then wett sanded the board... ...and painted...and wet sanded again and again... I do not know how many layers I had in the meantime it. But: I get to design. First I took masking tape and taped off the desired median strip, ... I mixed with appropriate color brown/yellow/white painted, the strip and finally a coat of clear lacquer: Next Step. i took a "postit" ...Only took about a center line and the base of the graphics, ... ...Cut and placed on the board. I used to use a second template, ... ... 0.2 mm Gun and colors of yellow, orange, red, gold, silver.
Dominik Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Here it is the result: Now, still wet grinding, the fin on it and turn the finals clear lacquer. Finish: Thanks for your patience and watching.
