RodBurNeR Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 This is an unbuilt vintage kit that would most likely be on a collector's shelf.....but i don't collect , so watch this thing get built! IMC Touch Tone Terror wheelstander and will be built like the box art. i have already removed a lot of flash and mold lines. it's in color now and i will update again when i have decals on it.
BIGTRUCK Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Kinda neat seeing one of the oldies being built....and about the collector vs. builder topic....I fall into the other catagory...''Buyer with intent''...I build when I can.. buy cause I must , they never .. ever equal out
RodBurNeR Posted May 12, 2007 Author Posted May 12, 2007 Original decals or repro ?? repro! i used to run Gooche decals site for him and i got a bunch of decals at the time. i have the originals, but they are yellowed and would look bad against the new white paint.
RodBurNeR Posted May 12, 2007 Author Posted May 12, 2007 Bob, I agree with you on building vs. collecting, go for it!!! I'm a builder as well. Now, two questions: 1-Do you have any plans for the phone booth in that kit? If not, do you wanna get rid of it, & if you do wanna get rid of it please email me!! 2-I asked you this in another thread & you may have missed it. I'm about an hour from Omaha, in Shenandoah IA, & do most of my hobby shopping in Omaha. Besides Gene's Toys & Collectibles in Council Bluffs, Tony's Toy's & Collectibles at the Westroads Mall, & the Hobbytown USA & Hobby Lobby's in the area, are there any other good hobby shops around, especially as to paints/aftermarket supplies? 8) to answer your first question, i got this in a trade that i let my friend keep the phone booth and parts to make "ding a ling". i might be able to get them from him, but if i do, i was going to get me a couple little red wagon kits and build the other two versions of this kit  when we traded i said all i want to build was the TTT so i let him keep the rest. yes i saw your post and responded, maybe we missed each other lol....i think if i remember right i said you could contact me awbcrazy@tconl.com so we could meet if you like. the next time or any other time you come to Omaha, i am always eager to hang with another modeler! all the stores you mentioned i go to and some others as well, but there is no particular hobby shop that has a good selection of aftermarket parts.....BUT do you know Steve Kohler? he lives here and he has TONS since he sells for MCG, PBP, R&R, HENDRIX AND MORE. if you need to pay him a visit, maybe we could go together since it's been awhile since i was at his place.

RodBurNeR Posted May 12, 2007 Author Posted May 12, 2007 decals are done, clear coated, not polished and does not need a polish i am working on the chassis and engine right now....more to come!
Jairus Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Wow, cheesy picture... where's the wine? Seriously folks, this is a neat build of an old classic that I passed up on the Coronet department store shelves for a "Turbosonic" dragster!

Seriously folks, this is a neat build of an old classic that I passed up on the Coronet department store shelves for a "Turbosonic" dragster! thanks Jairus! it will be nice to get some mockup photos soon. i have the chassis painted and need to get the Hemi done up and inserted hehe!
RodBurNeR Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 got chassis painted. it totally slipped my mind that the bed floor was to be white at least, but it came out just fine! there is a little cleanup paint work to do on the black of interior floor from overspray. i thought it was sealed up good, oh well..... the cab wall actually hides almost all of it. i can't remember the last time i had to do something like this? the floor, bed floor and underside of chassis is three steps in paint alone. actually 4 if you count primer. there is a filler piece that comes in the kit if you build this version that goes in the frontal hole of the floor. i am working on the engine now and since the instructions and box art give absolutely no clue to what colors are used, i am freestyling it. the Hemi will be orange with aluminum heads. it's coming along! i have the headlight caps in now and that alone looks too cool!
darquewanderer Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Glad to see you decided to go and build it. Project's looking great. Can't wait to see it finished. It's too bad that Hawk will re-release the Lil Red Truck instead of this version. I'd like to have a go at it myself.
ratrodder Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Beautiful build so far. The color and the decals look great. I love to open a new old stock kit. It's just something about that new old smell when you open it and I don"t even worry about the rareness if I own it. BUILD IT! ratrodder doug
