Scale-Master Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 New frame and running gear with a Hemi under an old salvaged original steel body. New deck lid… The body is a left over item from a paint job that went south when I was building the box art models (this was supposed to be the metallic blue one). After the project was done I tried to strip it and the result was the nasty texture on the body. So I shot it silver and did a little more distressing and detailing. Also had fun ratty-ing up the roof panel and the interior. Fun quick build never shared publicly before.
Dennis Lacy Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 That's a really cool build! Very representative of one of the segments of hot rodding where a guys 1st priority is getting it running. I like how the body is textured. What did you use as a paint stripper that resulted in this? Those Hemi valve covers look a lot better painted than plated.
deathskull59 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 wow that paint stripper was harsh to that 32 ford. now it looks so cool as a rat rod and very realistic.
RodneyBad Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 You sure do know how to make Lemonade from a lemon. Body looks like Heck and the rest looks Darn Good. Great looking build..
Scale-Master Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 I used Easy-Off oven cleaner and mineral spirits to strip it, but I suspect much of the damage resulted from the clear being too hot for the dry but uncured enamel metallic blue. Much of the etching is in the same areas that were disturbed in the blue.
David G. Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 A happy ending for an unfortunate event. It has a "rolling restoration" look to it. Excellent save! David G.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 A lot of charm in this model. Great job.
