Mister Twister Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) This is a body that Wayne gave some time ago and I just decided to do it as a slammer. The camo graphics are hand painted and covered in several coats of clear. I added some nice wheels and tires from the parts box and Slixx decals. Edited November 28, 2011 by Mister Twister
Dave42 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Wow, I'd bet that paint scheme took awhile. Looks impressive and unique. Later,
Mister Twister Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Willys? What Willys? LOL....Thanks for looking in guys!
John Teresi Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Darryl.........you are the "Master" of building drag cars.......another beauty.......can`t wait to see what you come up with next.
rustybill1960 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Nice! I like the Willys! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
pharr7226 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Wow! Very nice job on the hand painted graphics.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Well, how did you do the paint? Did you use templates? Very cool.
Mister Twister Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Well, how did you do the paint? Did you use templates? Very cool. Virgil, I used a mix of Model Master lacquer to come up with the two shades of gray used for the camo spots. It is brush painted by free hand with no stencil. I used a red sable brush to apply the shading. Once it had cured for a few days I cleared it with enamel clear and polished it out. Thanks much!
Jon Cole Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Camo? I see cow. And I mean that with reverence and admiration!
Nitrozilla Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 You could stage your own full drag meet diorama. Only problem is, every build you've made would qualify No. 1 and it would be a 100 way tie. Where'd the Gotham City decal come from ??
Mister Twister Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Camo? I see cow. And I mean that with reverence and admiration! Cow?....LOL! Joe, I said I used Slixx decals but I will have to admit now that they are not all from Slixx. I had that Gotham City decal in my spare decal box and it just seemed appropriate on this body. Wayne (1320Wayne) gave it to me a couple of years ago. Maybe if he checks back in here he can chime in and let us both know about it. Thanks much guys!!

The Gotham City decal came from a Jeg's Pro Mod Mustang decal sheet that was avialable from TEM a few years back. Unfortunately the decal is no longer avialable.
1320wayne Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I went back into my photo album of the Mustang build and found this image of the decal. Unfortunately I didn't save a useable image to replicate the decal.
Nitrozilla Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 (edited) Darryl and Wayne, thanks for the info and the pics. I remember seeing them on the Mike Ashley funny cars and was hoping to find them. I took pics of the graphic on his golf cart at The Strip in Vegas a few years ago only to discover later I had my camera set up for night shooting. Came out like a weird looking negative.
