lowriderphil Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 She's finally done, Revell 1958 Impala. Painted hampstead green with a deep jewel green metallic top. Interior is a two tone light sage and gold combo. Stock wide whitewalls with 59 dodge lancer hubcaps. Not to crazy on this one just wanted a clean mild custom. Will print the tags when I get new ink.
Peter Lombardo Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Looks really period correct. I love the two-tone green......if I may, just one small point that you could fix real easy......the insignias on the nose and continental spare on the tail could use a little bare metal foiling. I think that little bit would finish it off just fine. But with or without that, it is a really nice build.
Draggon Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 That turned out great Phil, I sure dig it! The caps and lakers work quite well on this!
CorvairJim Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 While I'm not really into lowriders (especially the modern ones!), I'm a big fan of '58 Chevys. This one's a real beauty. The colors are perfect on it, and the flipper caps and lakes pipes really make the look!
Harry P. Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Just curious... why didn't you foil the hood and trunk emblems and the door locks?
Erik Smith Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Very cool look. I like the choice of wheel covers and the paint colors. This is one kit I have put off buying for some reason - makes me want to get one.
Greg Pugh Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Beautiful car. I love the colors. But I have to ask the same question as Harry.......
lowriderphil Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 thanks for all them compliments, everything has been foiled, I was playing beat the sun today trying to take pics outside before the sun got too low in the sky, took care or the little tidbits afterwards.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Excellent model. Wonderful colors and execution. It's a keeper and one that will shine in your collection. Thanks for sharing.
Skydime Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) I never really cared for a 58 until just now. I will definitely be picking up one of these the next time I am at Michael's. Thanks for making me a believer, Phil! Edited December 4, 2011 by Skydime
geetee66 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 You nailed it! She sits just right, the colour is spot-on and the caps and lakes are perfect. I think the paint is really excellent. Not just because it's very crisp, beautifully polished and the right shades, but also because the grain of the metalflake is a realistic scale. I got hold of the AMT version recently and I hope it looks even half as good as yours when I build it! I dunno how it stacks up against the Revell kit. It will, of course get similar treatment to yours. Nice photography, too.
deathskull59 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 thats a nice kustom looks very clean too.
