rustybill1960 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Mike! That is a super start to a real sharp build! I like your subject, I like the body style. I have several of those Montes and GNX in my stash. Before you "give up" on the black paint on any other cars, try this trick, I got it from some forum, flat black a couple of coats, then clear coat it. I have done it and it looks real sharp. Any chance that you have a W.I.P. of the cowl hood building? I am going to use a resin on hood on one of the Montes, but, I would like to try building a larger one myself. Thank You for sharing with Us here looking forward to more Later Russ
1fine89 Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 ALright so this weekend I had my try at a little more scratch building. Made some long tube headers, an deep oil pan, and a dipstick this is the fitment under the car. Now I know why people sometimes lift the motor to get headers in. It was a challenge to get them to fit perfect. I'm happy with the outcome! Still just dry fitting everything, next I will make cap and wires, msd box, electric water pump, belt and finish the front engine plate I'm building!

It still turned out with a lot of orange peel. I don't have a WIP for the cowl hood however this is the tutorial I used to make it http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=258&st=0&p=308151&hl=+cowl%20+hood&fromsearch=1&#entry308151 Good luck with your hood! be sure to post pictures of it! Cheers, Mike
