philo426 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Is that color referred to as "Lemon Twist"?I think it is lighter than Sub-Lime.
mopar01lee Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 its a 1971 code for citron yella... it may have been called that in a erlier or later yr..w/a diff code
Rdkingjay Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Loved that car, and the movie. Its a shame that hollywood has chosen this car as its whipping boy. Dirty Mary-Crazy Larry, Dukes of Hazzard, Bullitt, just to name a few. Nice job so far on the resto. Is that the Special editon kit from revell?
Dirkpitt289 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Great work so far. Very impressive. I would like to see more of your Duke's Charger build. Do you have a build thread here on the forum?
Jon Cole Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) I don't have a '69 chip page, but the '70 is the same afaik at least for Y-1 Which photo color is accurate? Edited December 29, 2011 by Jon Cole
mopar01lee Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 jon .. photo 2 is the more correct color for this car.... it was a few diff shades cuz of the mid 70s film affects..and lighting. same case as the general lee.. so to speek.. later days Davin
mopar01lee Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 Great work so far. Very impressive. I would like to see more of your Duke's Charger build. promo55 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I love that movie! I always wanted to build the Charger and the '66 Chevrolet Impala. That is a great build. Now, maybe you can build that car AFTER the train hit it!? And, since that movie was made about the same time "Baretta" was on TV, maybe the Impala is the same car used in "D.M.C.L?"
mopar01lee Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 Ok as i said before i was gonna make my own 440 valve covers like i did on the general lee build... so i made my masters. , an then made my mold . i love the 440 so why not cast em.. sinc it takes 20 to 30 min per cover , now 3 to 8 min .. here they are....mold an masters masters and resin.. later days Davin....
Dirkpitt289 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I was reading the General Lee thread and was impressed with the fact you built you're own valve covers. I would like to have seen how that was done. They look impressive
mopar01lee Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Thanks bro......... the valve covers were not that hard to make. I mainly used scrap pieces of styren stock i had lyin around ... you cut your block to length ,grab a file an start shaping it an making the bolt grooves.. then use a piece flat sheet glue to the bottom an shap it like the cover just a tad bit bigger , then were the bolt grooves are you drill a hole an use small diam hex rod an a drop of glue to the bottom of the rod, push it threw till just a small portion is sticking up , cut the remainder of the rod off from the bottom side . and then do a finale shaping and sanding .. and there you got a awsome set of INDY CYLINDER HEAD valve covers.. later Days . Davin
