SFC_Allen Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I was wondering if anyone knew if there any of these out there and if not does anyone know if there are future plans for these. I know there was an older Tahoe kit but i can't ever seem to find it anywhere. Would love to see the current years for these. They would make some awesome police/trooper replicas. Thanks in advance Earle
Chuck Most Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 AMT/Ertl did the '96 Tahoe 4-door as a promo and a Snap kit- they come up for sale online quite a bit, and the price usually isn't bad. There is a resin caster making a '81-91 style Suburban, but I don't remember who.
martinfan5 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Earle, there are a few newer diecast tahoe's on the market, I am not sure if you are looking for plastic or not, and your screen name looks really familar
Aaronw Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Other than the 1996 Tahoe from AMT, you have to go diecast or resin. Police car models has some current (or at least current-ish) SUVs http://www.policecarmodels.com/ I'd have to look around to remember who did them, but there are some older than 1996 SUVs in resin.
Agent G Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Modelhaus has the resin Suburban kit. It's the older 79-89 body style. G
martinfan5 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Modelhaus has the resin Suburban kit. It's the older 79-89 body style. G I would love to get my hands one of those, I have the 85 impala he made
martinfan5 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 As do I, those are wonderful kits. G Mine is not so much wonderful anymore, I have had it since the mid 90's and its missing the right front a pillar, the chorme is coming off, I think its time for the junk yard for it , but G you are right, a wonderful kit
mikemodeler Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I think there have been a few postings of diecast late model Tahoes on here with models from Welly (?) Not sure how easy it is to disassemble one and modify it but maybe an internet search can yield some answers. Thank you for your service Sgt. Allen!
martinfan5 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I have posted one the welly tahoes on here, they are not hard to take a part, really simple. The welly tahoes are not 1:24 scale, they are closer to 1:27th scale. The diecast comapany Jada just released their tahoe diecast that are 1:24th scale. Here are some links for them http://www.policecarmodels.com/ja120chtapos.html http://www.policecarmodels.com/we120chtapos.html
SFC_Allen Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Thanks guys. My pleasure to serve. I should have been more clear, I meant plastic kits. I like the diecast ones but It's fun to build from the ground up. I might have to try and find a few snap kits. Thanks again Earle
