zaina Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 started this one a couple weeks back. engine pulleys, oil fill cap, radiator cap, and beehive filter (not shown yet) were all machined on my mini lathe. the spark plug wire tubes were made by stretching some scrap sprue and then bending and drilling some holes. kinda tired of the bell aircleaners so i used a thickstun unit from RMCOM. nice kit so far except for the heighth of the front end. if you used the lowered rear end (which is the only one to use in my opinion) the lowered front end is too high...so some cutting and enginering was involved to get the right stance. it would be ok if you were to build a tail dragger. so here is what i have so far. zaina Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Thanks for the comments everyone. I have decided on a color but I'm keeping it a secret for now. Sorry;-) Quote
MikeMc Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Nice...gotta agree on that front....but it is easy to slam. I'm going a different way though with a set of Ardun Heads. Quote
zaina Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 ok, finally got this one done! color is honda imora orange pearl(tri coat) from dupont followed by dupont clear. went a little different route as most guys and didnt use the fender skirts and also added side pipes from the 62 catalina kit. wired and plumbed engine. i will be moving this one to underglass but here is a pic anyway. carchub Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Very nice! I like your decision with the fender skirts. What kit is this? Quote

Haubenschild Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 great job , did you have any rear ride height issues? Quote
Ramfins59 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Great job as usual Andy. I love your work. Quote
zaina Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 thanks guys. the only rear ride issues i had were withe the shocks not fitting very good because of the exhaust, but whatever, you cant see the underside when its sitting upright. Quote
rmvw guy Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Very nice! I would love to learn your technique for making the sparkplug tubes. They look just like the real ones. I'm a big fan of the Ford Flathead. Nice work! Quote
zaina Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Thanks. The tubes are made by stretching sprue to the right size, then drilling holes in the right places, glue em on and insert the wires...pretty easy. Quote
