kruleworld Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 This is my Icon Models Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase 3. it's a diecast kit (pre-painted and partly assembled) At 1:8 scale it's huge and heavy. Assembly was fairly straight forward, the hardest part was putting in the wiring loom. This is my ICON models 1/8 scale Ford Falcon model. it's diecast pre-painted and pre-tampo-decaled. worth a mighty thousand bucks, this kit only required a couple nights to assemble. There's a lot of detail in it, but given it's size its not that surprising. Pre Assembled 351 v8 part assembeled the chassis/interior one wheel to give idea of size building the wire loom (hardest part) engine in place more interior the doors were already added at the factory so they could be correctly aligned. dash in place. see, it really is a HO by the badge on the glove box body to chassis
kruleworld Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 added the seat belts. the shoulder strap had to be added after the body was on because it joins both roof and floor how it progresses. note box for my 1/12 mustang. old modellers trick. sand the tread of the tire to improve visual realism. here it's half done front grille added. basically done how the engine looks at home how the chassis looks finished. finished model fills the desk. it's certainly impressive if you want a model with wow factor. it's a pity that so much of the assembly was done at the factory (if i'd know i would've asked for one completely unassembled). here's the included a replica glove box manual. Here's a scale difference to show how big it is. on top is my 1/25 scale xy falcon gtho (moffat).
62rebel Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 oh my gosh that's bloody brilliant and enormous.
martinfan5 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Wow, just wow, that is just amazing, that thing looks almost real, and the first pic I thought it was for a second. Thats some very nice detail on it.
Sixties Sam Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Incredible model! The engine is killer! 1/8 scale is great for details! Beautiful! Sam
stump Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 AWESOME ! I LOVE the interior shot, looking up at the dashboard. It looks like you had to lay down on the floor (with seats removed) to take the pic. Great build overall, and a true masterpiece.
Casey Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Wow, I don't know how I missed this one, but I love it. I think I've seen the engine sold separately on eBay Australia, but the entire model look to be very nicely done. Does Icon make other big scale stuff?
kruleworld Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Icon have released a racing version of this car, plus one in white and a XW (previous model). stump, that photo is upside down
