Raul_Perez Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) After a year of not building much, I finally finished the 1953 Alfa Romeo B.A.T. 5 resin model by Fisher that my good friend Bernard (GBK1) got for me last year. Since this is a curbside model, there are no engine or chassis pictures. Just body shots of a really cool car that I can only imagine what people thought of when they first saw it in 1953!! It looks really cool sitting in my display case next to my Danbury Mint 1963 Aston Martin DB-5!! Later, Edited February 20, 2012 by Raul_Perez
Qwit Pushin Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Raul, Did you have this at NNL last week? I love this car, having seen the real thing at the 'Blackhawk Museum' in Dublin, I can tell you that you captured it beautifully! Well done!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Raul, what a beauty. Another fine, gorgeous model added to your collection. You are starting the year off with a Grand Slam.
Raul_Perez Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks, guys!! Yes, Mike, this was at the NNL West. I have several photos of the 3 B.A.T. cars from the Blackhawk Museum. My favorite is B.A.T. 7. That's the one where the wings almost touch in the back. Later,
peter31a Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 That is indeed a cool car and a very cool and clean build. Thanks for sharing Raul.
Chillyb1 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Yes, that is seriously cool. It is a rare thing to see.
Raul_Perez Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks, guys!! It's a 1:24th scale resin curbside kit from Fisher Model and Pattern. Here's a link to their website: http://fishermodels.com/ This one has the optional photo etched wire wheels from Herb Deeks. Later,

Raul_Perez Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Class of 2011 heh, buddy great job, was great to see it at the NNL West Bernard wants me to build a bigger salt flat/lake racer diorama base for next year... so we can display your Lincoln V-12 with ours, hee-hee! jaymcminn Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Great work, Raul. The BAT cars really were straight out of science fiction!
Eshaver Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) I thought that this was the car when I saw the title . I had no idea someone had ever kitted this subject . Fine workmanship ! Ed Shaver Edited February 22, 2012 by Eshaver
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I've never seen anything like that before. WOW, that is absolutely cool!!!!
Raul_Perez Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 Thanks, guys! Yes, by 1953s standards, this thing must have looked like something from outer space!! If you're interested in one of these kits, they are made from really nice resin with virtually no pinholes. Everything fit and went together very well. All of the window molding lines are crisp, needing no special atttention or preparation for BMF. There are plenty of reference photos on the internet to build a nice curb-side model. Later,
charlie8575 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Very nice job. And a very interesting subject. Charlie Larkin
Modelbuilder Mark Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Nice job! I have seen this car in person, it is quite striking for sure. It was with the 7 and 9 at the Imperial Palace auto display in Vegas about 3 years ago.
