KLF is a british band that released the number one song 'Doctoring the Tardis' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctorin%27_the_Tardis

"Doctorin' the Tardis" is a 1988 electronic novelty pop single by The Timelords ("Time Boy" and "Lord Rock", aliases of Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, better known as The KLF). The song is predominantly a mash-up of the Doctor Who theme music, Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll (Part Two)" with sections from "Blockbuster!" by Sweet and "Let's Get Together Tonite" by Steve Walsh. The single was panned by critics but became a commercial success, reaching number 1 in the UK Singles Chart and charting in the Top 10 in Australia and Norway.

I like this song, but even more, i like Cauty's 68 Ford Custom (Galaxy), featured on the cover of the song and in the video clip (and also a heap of other KLF songs). Obviously inspired by the Bluesmobile, it's in poor condition (with rust coming through the rear quarters) and he doesn't mind using it to run down one of their Daleks.

This model the closest i could get is AMT's 70 Ford police car. apart from slight year model differences, it's pretty much identical.

I also made one of the crude Daleks in the video clip

Okay, I like it. Cool build and nice inspiration. I like the stupid little robot thing too.

Why is the car all smokey at the beginning of the video? Is there an exaust leak in the cab?

The occupants better be careful not to get too hot in that box.

Wow, thats a blast from the past. Got the record somewhere.

Great scruffy build, love it. Shame the 70's Ford kits command stupid prices now. Love to drive a similar 1;1 Cop Car, make the ride into work more interesting !

The video is too funny. Notice the guys feet inside the dalek lol

Love those big ol'e 60s 70s cars and I love to see em chucked about a bit instead of all polished up and going nowhere at car shows.

The music is a mish mash of Rock n Roll pt1 by (say it quietly)ahmm! Gary Glitter, Block Buster by The Sweet, who were two top selling artistes from the Glam Rock days and of course the Doctor Who theme music.

I would love to know where this was filmed as I am a bit of an old Urban Explorer and love exploring our derelict urban heritage. Looks like an old UK airfield, probably left over from WWII when the USAAF departed or could be Greenham Common?

I remember that song well. Whatever you do, don't buy the KLF's album on the WAXTRAX! label, as you will be greeted with huge disappontment!

Walter, welcome to the forum, and WOW, beautiful model. I love it. The dust on it is very well done, not to mention the other weathering techniques. Very nice. Thank you for sharing your eye candy with us.

I have that album, and the later KLF American releases (White Room being one of the First). To me, KLF lost a lot of their electronica sound when they shipped overseas to America, they fell under the pressures of American influence. It was still (and still is) good music, just not what they started out as.

I remember that car in their 'Time is Eternal' video as well. Thanks for sharing the build, and for bringing up a band that most have never heard of and time is forgetting!

Johnny, if this is correct ;

Cherhill White Horse and Lansdowne Monument east of Calne, N Wilts (visible from the A4) and also the former RAF camp at Yatesbury

Cheers for that, Ill chase it up. Just love old derelict air bases.

PS You off to the NSRA southern swapmeet on the 4th March?

Say hi if you see me selling highly expensive old Hot Rod mags and some old even highly expensiver old models. I've got a grey Peugeot estate, I'm in Rayleigh by the way.
