kit%252078%2520monza%25201.JPGHere's another promo I cleaned up and detailed. More of my "home made" white walls. Looks like they hit a curb a few times!! Bought this promo at a swap meet last weekend for 10 bucks.

Cool. I had a 1:1 many years ago with a small block. You were supposed to lift the engine up to change plugs. I cut a hole in the wheel well instead.

Ah yes, the Vega's sister with better make up... Looks good.

Good descrip of the 1:1 car! This detailed promo is nice, don't see them too often.

nice car. did you paint the promo?

No, that's the original moulded color, Medium Green Poly. Buffed it, detailed and waxed. These promos are fairly inexpensive on the Bay..............can pick one up for about 20-25 bucks or so. Nice oddball subject for your display case. They did kits of these, but honestly, in my opinion, for the money.........go for the promo. After all, it was the '70's.............you know what I mean.

Great looking Monza for sure. These are great cars and you did a great deal with 10$. I like that color, never seen it on Monza body, but it fits nicely there. I'd like to get one promo-model too, and maybe do '79 Skyhawk Conversion.

Sweet! We need a new tool of this! Little known fact: the Monza was going to be the next gen Camaro, before the idea was axed!

My 1st new car was a '75 Monza with a 350 making a whopping 135 hp!!..here's a build I did replicating my car built from an old AMT kit

So, the Monza was supposed to be the next gen Camaro huh? Hmmm, interesting idea ^_^

Nice job, BTW. Don't see enough of this kind of car...

There was a kit of a Buick Skyhawk version. One of those late seventies kits with the wacked out body modded custom on the box, but I believe it could be built stock. I saw one on the Bay a while back and it sold for more than I wanted to pay, but I'd like to find one and do a Skyhawk as well. A resin coupe body would be great too.

Alan,

Yeah, I would guess its the old MPC 3-in-1 kit. I used to build those every chance I could get.

Loved those cars. Multiple building options and all

There's no kit from '79 Skyhawk, and I'm 99% sure about it. All Skyhawks, I've seen are older ones ('75-'76 or so.) That's really sad that I haven't seen any resin bodies either, and problem is that '79 is Completely different than those older year models. I have AMT Monza 2+2 and that would be great basis for Skyhawk conversion too. I'm building mine as Monza now, maybe conversion would be nice to do later.

that's a nice model of a car you almost never see built. My friend back in 82 had a Monza with a 305 and it would run neck in neck with my 76 Camaro 350.
