ffreak Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Seems we've lost another bit of our childhood....... I loved watchin the Monkees !! http://www.hlntv.com/article/2012/02/29/davy-jones-monkees-dead-66-years-old?hpt=hp_t3
Harry P. Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 What????!!! Wow... that's too bad. Only 66.
mikethepoormodeler Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 What was the cause of death? I hadn't heard of him being sick or anything. I, too, grew up watching The Monkees. I don't know how many cavities I got chewing gum to collect all their cards. Anyway, it is sad, indeed.
peekay Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Sad news. I was just old enough to sneer slightly at the TV show but some of the songs were great and have stood the test of time.
Guest Johnny Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 They said heart attack. Guess he looked good on the 17th when he was in Oklahoma at a show. Sad news.
george 53 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 They were just on Retro TV. Mickey had to drive the Monkeemobile against a Cobra Daytona Coupe, caz the "Good guys" Manta Ray had been saboutaged by the "Bad guys". It was fun to see them ACTUALLY moveing on their own again. Every time I've seen ANY of those cars they were on static display only! Rest In Peace, Davey.
Guest Dr. Odyssey Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 For heavens sake at least spell his name correctly. Davy Jones.
Rob Hall Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 He was from before my time, but I do remember him from the Brady Bunch Movie in the '90s.
ffreak Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 For heavens sake at least spell his name correctly. Davy Jones. My bad, Davy..... sorry for being a little upset over this........... No disrespect meant !!!
Guest Dr. Odyssey Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I remember him on the Brady Bunch TV show!
charlie8575 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I used to watch The Monkees re-runs when I was a little kid. It's always sad when we lose someone talented and who brought joy to peoples' lives. The music will live on, as will the memories. Charlie Larkin
Agent G Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Davy just recently attended the Barret Jackson auction. One of the Monkeymobile clones was on the block. G
bigphoto Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Very sad indeed! RIP Davy. A real sad thing is now when the Monkee's get together there will only be two as Mike Nesmith won't perform with them in public anymore.
JMChladek Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 So who found his locker? (Sorry, bad joke). Well, we're all getting old it seems. Death is part of the picture. It is sad when somebody goes quick, but at least Davy touched so many lives for good over the years and didn't seem to do what so many other "celebrities" do these days to get famous.
mikemodeler Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Sad to hear, becoming common as of late it seems. I, too watched the show and listened to the music growing up in the 60's. A bit of trivia that some may not know: David Bowie's real last name is Jones but he changed it to Bowie when he started performing so as not to be confused with The Davy Jones!
