Chuck Most Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I bought this kit as a parts donor years ago- the engine was long gone, the hood was sealed shut with epoxy, and some iffy bodywork had been done to it. I wanted to build it into a lookalike of my '67, to see how that might look when the restoration is done. Instead, I made it look more like my 1:1 in its current state... several shades of primer and rust! My 1:1's interior is still the original 'cool mint' green, but when it is redone it will be red, and the car will eventually have a nice paint job, so I guess this might represent the car in some future 'in progress' state. I pretty much threw the car together last night, because it was pretty clear I wasn't going to sleep. The wheels and tires are from AMT kits, and I lowered the car a bit by drilling the axle holes up higher. Not my finest effort, but for a 12-hour, single-sitting build, not too shabby, and I'm really happy with how it looks. The next one will be converted to '67 specs and I'll actually go for 'replica' status!
Bartster Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Looks like the real deal Chuck. Great way to spend a sleepless night! Nice job.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Nice and subtle and very well done, Chuck. Super realistic.
DANB Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) man thats sweet Edited March 14, 2012 by DANB
W-409 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Very nice looking Fury, it looks like real car what has been abandoned for few years. It's nice to see four door cars too, can't believe that it's actually 12 hour build...
george 53 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Chuck, the differences between a 67 an a 68 are VERY subtle, BUT THEY ARE noticeable!!! Cory, one of the members of DMCC, did that same conversion useing the 68 and let me tell ya, when put side by side, they are VERY noticeable! Cory used to do masters for JoHan, so he DOES know what he's doin. IF you gonna try it, your in for a lotta LITTLE detail work, like the lower fenderlines on the 67 that aren't there on the 68, plus the whole tail panel is different and placed lower down on the trunklid. MIGHT be better ta start with a 67 IF you can find one. Them rascals is kinda rare, that's why cory used the 68.

Yeah- I have a real '67 4-door out in the garage... pretty sure I can figure out the differences. Also- interior tub in this kit is for a 2-door, JoHan apparently couldn't be bothered to add rear window cranks or door handles.
Dominik Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 This paintjob looks interesting! if i understood you right, Is it like your real Fury this days? I like it! looks cool.
Chuck Most Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 This is how it looked 5 years ago, right after the windshield was shattered (long story). More of the original paint is visible now.
Erik Smith Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Looks cool Chuck. I like the 1:1 too. I have been shopping (not sure how seriously) for an old 60s 4 door land yacht - I like that era of Furys.
rustybill1960 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Another beauty Chuck! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
bondo bill Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 really like the effect you achieved with the paint
