george 53 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Is it a remodeled 66/67 Vette or the old Accurate Miniatures Grand Am Vette?
elan Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) Apparently it's the old AM kit, I have heard of no attempts to fix the issues with this kit (headers, upper a-arms). However with a little work and the photo-etch kit, you can have a very nice replica. Edited March 20, 2012 by elan
Erik Smith Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 There is a whole thread on this in the "reviews" section. I would link it but I am unable to with my phone.
Jdurg Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I still miss the 1967 large scale Vette that they made. Yes, it had it's issues, but overall it was a great kit. I still have a Detail Master Photo-Etch set in reserve for when finances allow me to pick that set up. (Perhaps that will be my next kit after I finish up this 1988 MPC kit I have?)
Eshaver Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 That is a wonderful shot of a wonderful automobile ! Thank You . Ed Shaver
Tonioseven Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) That was some good reading. Edited March 21, 2012 by Tonioseven
robertw Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 From what I have read is that when AM closed done there were a lot of left over GS kits and that these are what you are getting. None of the problems of the AM kit have been corrected. It might be a long time before we see this kit available again so it might be a good idea to get a couple while you can. Model Express is already taking pre-orders for them. rob
Greg Myers Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 So I shouldn't wait till they get to Hobby Lobby, or Micheal's ?
spad007 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 nice reference foto that cam inside might be a bit hard to model.
Rob Hall Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Picked up one at the LHS yesterday..neat kit. Never had one of the AM releases.
Dave Van Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Apparently it's the old AM kit, I have heard of no attempts to fix the issues with this kit I know of the A arm issues.....that was corrected with the 2nd gen of the kit. I do not know of the header issue....I built a number of the Vettes for the original AM and never had a header issue. What is it? I picked one up even though I had a few AM versions. A collector oddity for me really....A kit labeled Accurate Miniatures on every bag and tree but sold by Revell! A good kit $19 I paid Monday.
VERNON Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Forgive my ignorance, but does anybody offer a resin hood for the non-louvered cars that were raced. I found some photos where the hood had big openings on the front. Thanks, Vernon
Greg Myers Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 This kit has the hood you're looking for.
Greg Myers Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 (edited) as will this Accurate Miniatures kit, of course. Edited June 16, 2012 by Greg Myers
