Outstanding! The color, the choice of wheels, all of this makes this stand out as a great looking hot rod! Nice job!

Im in love with the paint colors. I'd take a 1.1 of that minus the decal cuz I would put my my painting business logo there. Two thumbs up from my little corner of the world.

That is just amazing for that '40 to be a first build!!!!!!,that is got to be the sweetest '40 panel ever done in model form or real for that matter!!!

My wife built her first model ever! IMG_0693-vi.jpgIMG_0694-vi.jpgIMG_0696-vi.jpgIMG_0699-vi.jpg

Yeh, I know it's not cool to re-post pics, but this one deserves it. This is a super nice first effort. Now I can see where you get your talent, Bill.

Great job laying down a really nice color combination. What really jumps out at me is the display. Very cleverly done and the tie-in between the model and display really works well.

She has a natural talent. I sure hope she decides to stick with it and develop it further. With native skill like that, there's no telling how far she could go in this hobby!

I am speechless. I love everything about it including the display base. You are a fortunate man to be able to share the hobby with your wife.

tanks alot guy's for the encouraging words, she is overwhelmed by them, and yes I am a lucky man! she loves to go to any kind of races, demo derbies, car shows, and now especially model shows, LOL she is a keeper! thanks again guy's!

Alyn , you figured it out! she is the one doing all the work on the cal. charger, lol we went looking for something to display it on and we got lucky and found the porcelin flower with purple tips, it was made for it! paid a whole 4 dollars for it because it had been broken and glued back! she is looking for just that right model to build another, which is awesome! I think she has the bug now, hehe, when she got to the tail lights she discovered why the kit was so cheap at the swap meet in omaha, they were missing, so she just painted them red in the body, she even had to use the dremel on the wheels to get them tucked under the body, pretty proud of her, she did get discoured a few times but hey who doesn't! she is gonna bring it to the heartland for sure, too bad they dont have a beginners class! thats a tough show to compete in, thanks again brother

Your wife did an oustanding job on this build, just dont teach her how to use the lathe or we all might have to find a new hobby LOL!

Bill, since you asked for input I feel obliged to answer.

In a word “remarkable”.

If she saw it on February 1st and finished it the day before you posted it, then she accomplished all in only 12 weeks. Remarkable.

The mask line between body colors is way beyond the skill demonstrated by many long-term builders on this forum. There is no paint build up at the tape line. The tape line even wraps neatly around the cowling. There’s not a run or sag evident in the color coats or the clear coat. There is no evidence of bleed under prevalent among her experience level. Not a hint of orange peel leads me to conclude that the clear coat was polished – without any burn through either.

The after market tires and wheels are aligned properly in the wheel wells. And, all are sitting on the display base – something not easily achievable by many here.

All the parts appear to be free of glue. There is no evidence of glue or finger prints – something many should aspire too - and, she achieved all this out of the gate. Remarkable.

Too remarkable.

My wife built her first model ever! she did all of the work to it, I did coach her as she went on how to do some things to make it easier, she painted it, she put pro tech guages in the dash, scale master dist. with purple wires,

watcha think fella's?

I have looked at this several times over the last few days and must say I am intrigued.

A first timer, who never built any model ever before, achieving this level of quality is absolutely incredible. She wired the engine and it looks like she even swapped one from another kit that actually fits under the hood? Amazing forethought. Especially with the added height of the blower. I'll bet she even got the firing order correct.

Hinged the rear door? Pretty advanced stuff for a first timer, kudos! The window is a little thick, but what the heck, first timers can get a pass on that.

Clean execution of both the application and crisp masking of the paint, better than my last model, impressive indeed. Glass smooth finish too, way better than my wife has been able to accomplish on the half dozen cars she’s done, (and arguably a huge percentage of other builders here). Almost hard to believe!

Use of aftermarket accessories on a first attempt? Gauges and all the interior upgrades/modifications? Well done too, just amazing.

And a wheel swap to boot? And not just any wheel swap, one the required some re-engineering from the modern pin mount to the old axle type. Incredible. And she knew or figured out what kits to use as donors? Awesome!

I build fast, but six weeks and all those mods for a first timer with that clean of a finished product with no direct or hands on help from you? Only coaching? Wow!

Very....Very nice. This would be a great model whether it was your first model or your hundredth. If I were to assume that the color scheme/decals were influenced by the fact that your wife is a woman I can but commend her. The model has a look that many male modellers might not think of doing but it works. I'm sure I can speak for everyone here...... we can't wait to see her next project.

Whats wrong with acknowlaging what it truely is , A good build.....Whos to say she hasnt been watching her husband build for many years, and of course she has all of his knowlage to fall back on and build on. My wife could probably build just as good a model with me coaching her, Good students mimic thier teachers.

Absolutely nothing wrong with acknowledging that point. In fact, that is pretty much what all the comments offer, and I don't see where anyone said anything but good things about the quality of the build.

Yes, "A good build", fully acknowledged and agreed upon...
