Haubenschild Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I dont have anything to say , so lets get started The "Ford" and 'Fairlane scripts have been sanded off
Haubenschild Posted June 13, 2012 Author Posted June 13, 2012 Started on the engine block and the 4 speed Wheels and tires ( I think ) are from the Revell 67 Chevelle SS396 kit
Haubenschild Posted June 13, 2012 Author Posted June 13, 2012 I modified the kits exhaust and added evergreen 3/32" tube that was heated and shaped , metal tips will finish off the pipes
Guest Darkside Customs Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Nice start to this... Not a big blue oval fan, but love these fairlanes...
Lownslow Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 aww common i was just about to post mine, nice start
Monty Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 aww common i was just about to post mine, nice start This seems to be a fairly popular kit on here. One of our members (sak) built a beautiful black one not too long ago, and another member (JTRACING) started one in 2011. He had an incredible engine bay all detailed up, then he just disappeared without a trace. Since you two are going to be doing this car, keep in mind that it doesn't have anything even resembling the shock tower top assembly (assuming accuracy is important to you). Fortunately, one of our nenowned resin casters offers a solution for those of us who aren't the best at scratchbuilding parts: http://www.modelcars...showtopic=58515 I can't wait to see how your cars turn out!
slammedi'am Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Nice I have 2 Im about to start on as soon as I finish some others...
bryan_m Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) great start! that kit has a great engine & tranny too! i have to grab another one cheers bryan Edited June 15, 2012 by bryan_m
Haubenschild Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 Thanks for the comments guys! The body , exhaust , trans , and engine block are in primer I will also be using the brakes from the 67 chevelle kit
Haubenschild Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 The exhaust and trans linkage were brush painted steel metallizer , mufflers were painted aluminum.
Haubenschild Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 The body and chassis were painted One Coat Fiery orange. Also , Is it safe to spray TS-13 over this paint?
JunkPile Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Shoot a bit of the Tamiya clear on the painted stand for a test. May try sniff test first.
Haubenschild Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 Since the front wheels would not fit on the kits spindles , I cut off the mounting points from the 67 chevelle kit and glued them on to the kits spindles. The new wheel mounting points will also lower the front ride height , which I wanted
Haubenschild Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 The front suspension / engine bay have been painted , its not the cleanest paintjob , but good enough for me. I need some help , I am debating stripping the chrome and painting it silver , do you think it would look nice?
JunkPile Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 What's wrong with the chrome? There's not much chrome anyway.
Haubenschild Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Here is a quick mockup shot , the rear wheel is crooked so I'll have to fix that
Lownslow Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 nice work, i have a mold of those wheels somewhere
Haubenschild Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 Thanks! I need to get a good amount of work done on this before I head off to Europe next week so heres an Exhaust mockup shot. I will be buying aluminum tube to finish off the pipes later this week
