71drolds Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 like it says, i use meguires scratch x for polishing and im not happy with it. i see all these paint job that just glow, and i cant get mine there. i would like to use something that i dont have to order and can get locally. give me some ideas PLEASE!
Guest Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I tried Kit Scratch Out and didn't like it either. I had a little tub of Turtle Wax polishing compound laying around and gave it a try and like it a lot better. Still have to wax afterwards, but it removed those final micro scratches much better.
71drolds Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 i dont have a problem with scratches so much as im just not happy with the shine. ive heard of people using the same stuff and getting good results, but i just cant get the same. ive never tried anything after the scratch x. maybe i need to explore that.
Tonioseven Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Have you guys tried polishing kits before you use the Meguiars? I use the micro-Mesh polishing kits then use Meguiars #7 and here's what it usually looks like... Your preparation methods as well as a few other factors also have a lot to do with the final outcome.
crazyjim Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I've been using Novus #2 to rub out the paint after sanding. Last night I bought a bottle of Scratch X to try out.
cobraman Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I use and like Novus 2 followed with Novus 1 or a good wax.
BKcustoms Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 After sanding I polish the paint with 3M rubbing compound and then go over it with scratch X as a final polish and I always get great results.
sportandmiah Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 If you are getting bad.results with scratch-x, then you are not.doing it.correctly. make sure you are wet standing with at least 6000 grit 12000 if u have it...THEN use scratch-x. It produces flawless results.
