signguy2108 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 This started life as a snap kit, scratch built sleeper, extended frame. Colors are PPG Ford arizona biege & Lamborgini violet pearl left over from my body shop days. Hub caps are nickel plated furniture nails from Lowe's. Add air & elect. lines on back of sleeper and call it finished! Back to work on something else.
Chad Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 As usual with all your work. Absolutely gorgeous! Chad
mackinac359 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Now isn't that just a nice looking rig ! Well done. Tim
Jim B Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I like you photo base, too. Do you have additional pics of that?
signguy2108 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 (edited) Thanks guys, by the way Tim, I stole the pavement idea from you. I'm sorry! Jim, if you need ideas for the base, go to Tim's old site on his web page. I spent about 2 hrs the other nite looking at his work. As most of us already know, this guy is truly amazing! signguy2108 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Jim, here's a couple of pics of the base. Just a piece of poster board and about 30 minutes work. Also something else in the works, a trucking company diaroma, if I live that long!
Jim B Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Thanks for the pics. With you ground shading, you really don't notice that it's just a flat piece of posterboard. One thing though: your dashed lines should be yellow. Good luck with the company diorama. That looks HUGE!
signguy2108 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Jim, in Arkansas our dash lines are white, the no passing line is yellow and the shoulder lines are white. The diaroma is 4'x8'. I'll never finish it, just something to think about.
drinkone2 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Awesome work on the Pete! Great idea using coroplast for the building, it looks just like corrugated siding. Having sign experience really helps in model building! Jim
Jim B Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 White dashed lines? Dare to be different. I don't remember that when I was in Arkansas, but then again I was mostly on the highways.
Big Daddy Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 very nice build,i'm gonna have to try one of these one day
signguy2108 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Hey Jim your right! State highway dash lines should be yellow. We have some county roads that are still white. And all this time I've been thinking that I know every thing! Ruined my day.LOL
Rich_S Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Hey Jim your right! State highway dash lines should be yellow. We have some county roads that are still white. And all this time I've been thinking that I know every thing! Ruined my day.LOL Larry, To add a little more info, the dashed lines should be 15' long with a 15' space. Your large car looks great Thanks for sharing the pic's
signguy2108 Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 LOL! Let's just go back to the plain black cardboard so the truck will get noticed! Larry
