lapazleo Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The Western Star cabover has been mentioned before on the forum but I found a couple more pics that just make me want to build one.
window Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 there used to be a couple of newer model ones kicking around here in brisbane. don't think they were very populat though.
mackinac359 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The best looking use of the Road Commander II cab. Tim
Rich_S Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Not sure what White Motors called the paint scheme on the left, but I always thought that was a good looking scheme. Has anyone ever worked with Dave Natale at AITM to get a truck cab produced?
Jim B Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) You might want to contact Rick Mark as he is making masters for Dave, and is reopening his own casting line again. This got me thinking (always dangerous): if someone were to make this cab, how many other companies used this cab? Obviously Western Star and White, but what about Diamond-REO? Could a resin cab be offered for all of these companies with just a grill & nameplate change? Edited July 11, 2012 by Jim B
Rich_S Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 You might want to contact Rick Mark as he is making masters for Dave, and is reopening his own casting line again. Jim, Do you have an updated address for Rick Mark. The address I have (www.rnk.conversions.com) returns a 404 page not found.
Jim B Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Rick doesn't have his Website up yet, but when i get it I'll definately post it. PM sent.
Rich_S Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Does anyone have any info on this model? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40494&#entry492311
lapazleo Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Kit form services Road commander 2 done up as WS coe close but not quite.
Rich_S Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Kit form services Road commander 2 done up as WS coe close but not quite. Leo, Thanks for the update, I guess both the KFS Road Commander 2 and the Ford CL9000 are no longer available from this company. Maybe they will re-run a few of these out of stock kits?
Jim B Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Leo, what's the difference between the White Road Commander II and the Western Star COE?
lapazleo Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 The ws has a smaller windshield about 2 inches shorter and the bottom panels from the bottom of the doors down are different as the cab sits higher. The grille is different too. After Volvo took over White the WS version of the cab was used as the Volvo White coe.
lapazleo Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Like window said there was a later version down under that used a dutch DAF cab.
lapazleo Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 I forgot about the third version sold in Australia with cab from British ERF.
lapazleo Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Neat twin steer Kiwicol, I might have to do a series of WS cabover projects.
