I'm just wondering which is more efficient at stripping paint and which I will be able to purchase locally (what stores sell each), I've always used DOT 3 and Easy Off for stripping paint but have decided to expand what I am using.

As a modeller I like to continue to change and grow.

Nick

More questions to follow for sure.

Edit: Other suggestions welcome also.

I'm interested in the comments on this one. I refuse to use brake fluid as I've ruined a couple of kits with it. Easy off's nasty fumes cause me to have respiratory problems. I use 91 proof alcohol on some models with great sucess. Other paints it doesn't touch. I'm a great fan of Polly's Easy Lift Off (ELO). It's hard to find but worth the effort.

Super Clean is faster. Simple Green, while slower, is not as rough on your skin and will safely strip die cast. Both strip chrome about the same.

You will also want to consider 91% rubbing alcohol of you get into using hobby laquers. I also use alcohol to soak parts after being in the Superclean, especially chrome parts.

X2 on this. also look for Dawn Power dissolver . Good stuff for those stubborn paints applied over bare plastic.

this past sunday i realized i had my dart painted the wrong color, so after a few attempts at different things the only thing that worked well was 1 litre (quart)brake fluid mixed with 1 bottle 99% iso alchohol (16oz) or 500ml the body was painted with duplicolor and clear coated and it soaked for a few hours and i could use my fingers to remove paint it came off so easy

I use two different things, and it covers all my stripping needs,(insert joke here), purple cleaner, and 91% alcohol, thats it, I dont bother with any thing else

The purple stuff works great for me. It's available at ace hardware although I don't remember the exact name of the product. Strips paint completely in hours. Just wear gloves it will irritate your skin.

I was the greased lightning person and it is amazing. I had a car that i had soaked in purple power for weeks, and overnight it was stripped bare.

Super Clean is looking like the go to stripper so far.

Agreed. Super Clean will handle enamels with no problem. With acrylics and lacquers, sand through to the primer coat in 5 or 6 spots and let the lye in the detergent attack the primer. If it is hobby lacquers sprayed on bare plastic (no primer) you will have to go with 91% isopropyl alcohol.

Okay thank you everyone stopped by Walmart on my way home from work and while walking down an isle spotted the Castrol Super Clean, didn't have time to grab a jug but will this weekend.

Thanks Again.

I like LA's the best and it's pretty cheap, but you have to dump the old and start with a new bottle every time if you want good results.
