Okay, I've not been following drag racing for a long time, but I started building this thing based on some ideas I've had from pix over the years. It's supposed to be a glass body on a tube frame, blown Keith Black hemi, altered wheelbase, etc. I'd like to build it reasonably correct for an actual drag racing class, and I've been told it would be some kind of outlaw heads-up car, or possibly pro-mod.

I'm asking you guys who really know this stuff for input, and possible links to accurate class breakdowns and descriptions. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Harry. I had already read that one and a few other internet articles. I've also done some image searches for similar cars. Guess I should have been more specific. The pix I'm getting look like some of the cars have operating doors as opposed to the funny-car lift-up bodies, but I can't see door cut-lines on some. May just be my eyes.

.....okay, I just found the actual 2009 NHRA complete rules for Pro Mod and the rule updates for the past few years. Guess I was just being lazy by asking here.

I had posted an earlier version of this car before on another forum and got slapped for classifying it wrong.....just trying to avoid the embarrassment. Thanks again.

See, that's what I'm hearing a lot of, but according to the NHRA rules I read, if it's a tube frame car, with opening doors, composite (carbon fiber) body shell, a blower (or turbos or nitrous),110" wheelbase minimum, 10% engine setback, dual parachutes and a few more specifics like 16X16 rear wheels, rear batteries, fabricated independent front suspension etc. it can be classed as a Pro Mod. What am I missing?

Though a big flattish rear wing is allowed, it's not required. Same for the length of the front. So this might not be a race WINNING pro mod car, but would it be race LEGAL for somebody who had enough cash to run it, but not enough to go all the way?

Sounds like you pretty much have all your questions answered right there. It doesn't seem like you're missing anything.

Looks like it's what we'd call a Doorslammer.

Go to Aussie Google (www.google.com.au), type in "Doorslammer" and then set it for pages from Australia only.

The beauty of building it in 1/25 scale is that if you don't want to you don't have to meet all the rules that would apply to 1/1 scale.
