jamesG Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I went to michaels yesterday to get a few things for my next build and saw a 32 ford sedan I thought would make for a cool rat rod but at 27 bucks I passed. I got some necklace chain $3.00 and a piece of velvet scrapbooking paper $2.00 and headed for the checkout. while standing in line the woman behind me asks if I have a coupon, Itell her no and she says "you do now" and hands me a piece of paper. I look at it and it was a hobby lobby 40% off coupon. I politely told her it was for the wrong store and she told me it would work. I thanked her went back and got the 32 ford and got back in line. I handed the casheer the coupon and got all three items for 25 bucks. on my way to the car I thanked the woman for the coupon again. I guess michaels will do anything to stay alive.
my80malibu Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Yeah the Michaels coupon are usually 50% so they made 10% on the deal good for them and that customer who helped you out
Casey Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Michael's accepts competitor's coupons, so if Michael's is only offering 40% off that week, go online and find a 50% off Jo-Ann, A.C. Moore, or Hobby Lobby (though their 50% off coupon seems to be a rarity) coupon and use it. Heck, just pull it up on your smartphone and you don't need to print anything out. Hobby Lobby now accepts (only) their coupon presented on a smartphone, too.
cobraman Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I don't think taking "other" coupons is all that unusual any more. Around her our grocery stores will accept other store coupons and Wallyworld now matches prices and I think accept other coupons. I work part time at a Petco store and we also will accept others coupons. I was very nice of that woman to give you a coupon however. You have to love those 40 and 50 % coupons even if those stores don't have the best selction sometimes.
espo Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I also take advantage of these coupons when I can. But if you look Hobby Lobby is always lower than Michaels. Niether store has the latest models, but I have found in my area that the Hobby Lobby will be 2 to 4 dollors less every time. Get their 40% coupon and be that much ahead.
jamesG Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 It was all news to me as I don't usually bother with such things(I will more often now). Sadly. There is a hobby shop next door to hobby lobby. I would rather do business there but they only have 4a or 5a auto kits the rest is milita ry trains and r.c
imarriedawitch Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I have received the discount at Michaels even without a Michael's coupon. They just ask for an email address that they can send future coupons to.
