Dr. Cranky Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Donn just sent me a round of pictures of the new beauty he just finished. I am sure he will chime in with more details. Enjoy. Best, DC
cobraman Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Boy thats a beauty. Where did those wheels come from ? I like them a lot.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 I love the subtle weathered touches on this chassis.
peter31a Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 That is indeed another beautiful Yost build! Gorgeous paint job and great work on engine and chassis. But Dr. Cranky that car looks to me to be blue not gold!
Joker Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Stunner !!! Like the screen vents in engine bay seals up the hood hindge openings on the firewall...neat idea ! Gorgeous paint work as always Donny. Also like all the bright work..handles,BMF work.
Olskoolrodder Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Donn's work ALWAYS amazes and inspires me,and this one's no exception,AWESOME build!!! :D
CEKPETHO BCE Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Sooo where's the model and how did you manage to photograph a real car on it's side like that?
Steven Zimmerman Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Cranky, I do not know who you are tryin to kid...That is NOT gold, it's BLUE !
Dr. Cranky Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 Cranky, I do not know who you are tryin to kid...That is NOT gold, it's BLUE ! LOL, I mean the "GOLD" of the SHINE, not the color. Yes, this one is blue, but all of Donn's work is GOLD!
Jantrix Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 One of the nicest build ups of that kit I've seen. And I'm totally in love with the wheel/tire combo.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 Those are probably lathed wheels . . . but I'm sure Donn will jump in here soon enough.
LoneWolf15 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 " Z " , You need to quit chasin' those parked cars in Meadville ! Lol ! Thanks for the kudos , Gang ! Revell's '48 Ford done up in a custom mix of Pearl X powders . I sanded the roof down a bit . To my eye , the peak in the front was a bit too pronounced ! Aside from removing the lower door hinge , body was prepped as I normally would do . Tires are from R & M M , wheels are Bob Dudek's sombrero caps with spinners from the Revell ' 32 roadster added on . Detail Master wire and fittings , MAD distributor cap , and MAS steel tubing were used throughout for detailing . Interior is done up in Testors Angel Blue & White two tone . Motor and frame were lightly weathered with Alphacolor earth tone pastel chalks , applied with a stiff brush . I expanded the horizons a bit here , I was looking to create an early ' 50's era hot rod , something that a local kid might have built as a daily driver . I was pleased with the outcome , first time shot at this type of build off my bench ! High marks to Revell on this kit ! This kit practically falls together ! Hmmmmmm ? Pro street on the next go around ? Could be ! Lol!
MachinistMark Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 nice paint...but flathead distributors are on the Front...
zaina Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 VERY NICE!!! but mark is right, distributor is in the wrong place.
LoneWolf15 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 VERY NICE!!! but mark is right, distributor is in the wrong place. Well , guess I need to cuss Revell out for this one . According to the directions , what appeared to be a custom / chrome magneto was mounted on the rear of the motor . I didn't like the magneto set up , too small to work with , so I simply replaced it with a distributor cap .
Sixx Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Geez...thank's for the warning!!! That jumped right out and hit me in the eyes!!!!!!! LOL!!! Sweet stuff man!!!
