Hawk312 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I wanted to do something with the `70 Chevelle kit I had sitting around as well, and decided to go pro street with it. I built this as a curbside, so no engine pics. Again, I think this one took less than two weeks....lightning fast for me. Wheels are my first attempt at resin casting, using masters from the `66 Malibu kit. The blower is from the Challenger kit, which is a little cartoonish in it`s size. Chassis is from the `67 Chevelle pro street kit. I wanted to build this up as a pro street Chevelle you might have seen around the time I was a kid. This is the type of thing I remember seeing in the magazines.
bbowser Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Excellent paint work, that looks flawless. Great job.
Hawk312 Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Thanks guys. I have to comment on the paint. I used Tamiya chrome yellow on this, and it covered very nicely! In fact, I sprayed it right over the bright green bare plastic without any primer or sealer. It also rubbed out very easily. No clear coat on this one. Edited August 10, 2012 by Hawk312
Lunajammer Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Nice photo choices too. That's about as nice as I've seen that kit done. Lovely.
slusher Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Really nice looking build and a great looking shade of yellow..
Shardik Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Add me to the list of those who love the paint... and the clean, flawless build...and the detail on the blower ...and....and...
cavemanx Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Great build. The yellow is perfect for the car. I can only find one flaw and it is no big deal, happens to everyone! The black is chipping off the grill a bit.
Sixx Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Sweet!!!! And a quickie at that!!!!!!!!!!! Edited August 10, 2012 by Sixx
Greg Pugh Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Why is everyone's quickies better than my longies?
Hawk312 Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Thanks everyone! I have to say also, that the body on this kit has much better proportions than the glue kit.
Dominik Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Yeah, this chevelle rocks. Like it! Very good paintjob, like the wheels. It turned out great!
Harry P. Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I agree the blower/scoop is a just a bit on the large side... but other than that, spectacular! And with your usual flawless paint.
crowe-t Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 This is beautiful! The body is from a snap kit? Was that a Monogram snap kit?
Hawk312 Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Thanks everyone! This is beautiful! The body is from a snap kit? Was that a Monogram snap kit? From memory, I think it was the Revell snap kit. The body was bright green, and it had silver stripes and custom wheels on the front. It was a very nice body, much better than the glue kit, IMO.
TheCat Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 WOW, great job on this build. Love the paint job.
MichaelJ Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Is the paint dry yet? LOL. Monster kewwell !!! THAT my fiend IS a wonder car (1:1) VERY-VERY NICE BUILD.. Michaelj...
