72 Charger Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 This was built from the box but it was a super kit to build Doobie Comments welcome
Jim B Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Nice looking ALF. All you need are hoses for the hose bed, and your set!
Bennyg Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) Nice weathering on the tyres. Maybe shoelaces for hoses. Ben Edited September 28, 2012 by Bennyg
72 Charger Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 Thanks guys yes i had thought about useing shoe laces but they dont fold or lay right if you look at the front the yellow hose is heat shrink tube i just need to get some more of that in different colors/sizes for the back Doobie
Jim B Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Shoelaces would be incorrect as they are generally too thick, and make you truck look like it's haulung, well, shoelaces. To replocate cotton jacketed hose, I've had good luck using braided elastic (used to make waitbands & cuffs tight. Check Jo-Anns or Michael's). For the newer synthetic hoses, I've seen yellow tape used quite effictively.

Im still looking for the right stuff to use that unless I sell it first!! Doobie
Jim B Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Michael's & JoAnn Fabrics are large, chain craft stores here in the US (and Canada, too, I think). I'm sure you have something similar in the UK. The braided elastic is in the sewing section, but like I said, it's too "old" for this truck. I found a tutorial on making newer style hoses. I'll see if I can find it again.

GeeBee Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Very nice build, I bought this model when it first came out, sadly I sold it on ...
Jim B Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Thanks jim any luck finding that tutorial Doobie Unfortunately, no. But I did find some references to making newer style hoses. He used yellow 3M tape. The person tri-folded it so the seam was in the middle, then he layed it in the hose bed.
kilrathy10 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Oh, yeah...That looks really good...Very nice build...
