crazyrichard Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 hi started this dio this summer , made loads of pictures , i will try to narrow it down to the main ..... the dio changed in syle a few times along the build , i always build stuff on the fly , no set idea's so.... started with a base from wood then made some fujimi mechanics painted them then scratchbuild a big colom drill and made a grind / polish bench
crazyrichard Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 started a wooden attic also got some cool lighting effects with the windows attic set up weathered the windows with peeled of paint effects and made asome stairs then got a fujimi garage kit for free from a guy and started to build part of it already primered the lot and added railings painted the engine mouth and put a engine on it
crazyrichard Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 found some foam plates ans added some wall struts (all still rough stuff) desided to use a window (bought that in a shop and is from modeltrains in the g scale) and make a rolling garage door (static not really movable) banana for a scale / size idea the primered door then weathered the door drasticly
crazyrichard Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 on the right you see a tool cabinet from the kit and on the left is something that supposed to be a ac system hmm why not make a whole new work bench and use real wood added a vice then desided to change the attic and i will have to build new stairs , maybe a small office on the left then started painting the bridge boring desk and chair same idea as the work bench
crazyrichard Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 (edited) then painted the fire extinguisher , small grease barrells , toolbox then painted the first floor set up (more will follow later) thats where i'm at right now , atm i'm rebuilding some earlyer build hotrods , after that i will continue the dio.. with the ammount of detail i have planned i have a lot of work still on this dio i have only build half of the garae tool kit , still have engine hoist , jacks , all the wrenched en more , i want real lighting in the dio , better walls (maybe brick) powerlines and just all the details you can think of , so where i'm at now i see as maybe half way / the base Edited October 13, 2012 by crazyrichard
Ramfins59 Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Great looking diorama Richard... working on something like this makes you want to keep adding more and more details doesn't it...???
crazyrichard Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 (edited) Great looking diorama Richard... working on something like this makes you want to keep adding more and more details doesn't it...??? hi thnx and yes it does , it started out as a .... what should we call it fun project and something to shoot future builds in and before i knew it i turned into way more .. in fact for me what i have now is still the base .. so much work to do still (witch is good building it is the fun of it) and yes when i started more idea's kept flowing .. at one point i desided to ease down on the rough stuff and build some small stuff just so i can get a better idea of the scale and proportions.. the plans was to scratch as much as possible until a guy who stopped with his hobby seold me his airbrush for a friends price.. when i got there to pick it up he gave me the fujimi garage tool fit for free and i must say its so fileld and full of detail , still have enough to assemble from that kit i also got filled parts boxes all kinda hotrod related .. but yes i have so much plans still ..and its su nuch fun , when i finish this (no hurry at al) i will def. build more dioramas , they def. will be way smaller then this one Edited October 13, 2012 by crazyrichard

charlie8575 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Very nice, Richard. What did you use to make the walls of the garage? They have a nice, realistic thickness and appearance. Charlie Larkin
Helix Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Impressive work, that's a big Banana they're working on !!
crazyrichard Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 thnx guys and @ helix normal size banana they are just littke people lolz(no offense ment to little people) and @ charlie , the walls are like soft foam plates i found on a construction site in the dumster (lol) there are even better options blue hard foam plates that you can inscribe stomes or anything in and seal and paint
jbwelda Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 hey thats some great work there, i have a question. you know that car lift there, i think fujimi makes it, did you built it tight enough so it will actually support a model car? i built one a long time ago and though i tried to keep the tolerances tight enough, the car support parts just kinda flop around. i was thinking about tearing it down and redoing it so it was sturdier and was wondering if you had any tips you could share. i tried shimming the arms but didnt have much luck when it was assembled. thanks in advance and thats some impressive detailing you are doing there...that loft area is looking great. and brilliant use of that banana too!
crazyrichard Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 well it supported a car yes , the thing even moved up and down , but i broke one of the movable arms off , its in place but i dont know if it will hold a car now .. but in theory it should not be a problem to put a car on there if you ask me the key is when you build it and place it in a diorama to glue it on the floor if you want a car on it , then it cant flex , the floorplate is really thin and that allows flexing
crazyrichard Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 thnx !! for now its on hold but i hope to continue it soon
