Burnout Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Looking really nice, Roger! Where did you source the wheels and tires from? Thanks, KB
caine440 Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 The Wheels are cool turned aluminum off Ebay. The front tires are competition resin, the rears are from Reliable Resin. Thanks!
diymirage Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 looking good man will you be tuning down the shine on those rollers a bit ? here is my take on the kit, just to keep the juices flowing
caine440 Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 I am not sure what to do with them as they are aluminum. Maybe some detailer..
caine440 Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 I think I have the wheels and tires sorted out. I am happy with the stance. The engine and interior are basically done. Now I just have to get the paint right and hope the cold weather does not make the job to tough. As always, thanks for looking.
vintagedragfan Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 super nice Roger! uh..... is your living room heated?
caine440 Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 Yes it is... but if I painted in the living room I would be living in the garage.. When my wife found out !
vintagedragfan Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Yes it is... but if I painted in the living room I would be living in the garage.. When my wife found out ! yea Roger, funny how they kinda frown on that kinda stuff, hehe
planearranger Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Lookin' sweet Roger! Maybe it's just me... e-body Mopars all up on a massive set of wrinklewalls is almost as good as (fill in the blank)

Stance, engine, wheels and tires, all looking really good and love those blue tinted headlamps. I'm going to try to go find some pictures of a '71 Challenger Pro-Stock I partially completed back in the day...(err....that would be sometime in 1971) and post them here. I got essentially everything completed but the engine....this was just before the JoHan S&M kit was introduced. The build was partily inspired by the "Angry Man" Maverick article by Hank Borger in Car Model magazine back then.... TIM
tim boyd Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 (edited) OK....found them. This was built from the MPC 1971 Challenger annual kit....before the JoHan Sox and Martin kit was issued. Had to strip the interior bare (note the battery on the rear seat riser,,,bet that was legal back then (not!)). Entire front suspension was scratchbuilt and the rear suspension was mostly from the AMT Ohio George '33 Willys, along with the front and rear wheels. Scratchbuilt hood scoop. Note the brushed chrome paint trim. Decals were from the 1970 MPC Challeger annual kit. Let's see....41 years and counting and still waiting for an engine.... Thanks for looking...TIm http://public.fotki.com/funman1712/tim-boyds-124th--12/boyd-drag-racing-do/boyd-drag-racing-do/ Edited December 8, 2012 by tim boyd
caine440 Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 Tim That is really cool! A trip down memory lane. I am always looking for a 71 Challenger builder off ebay but boy are they rare. I end up doing conversions or buy resin bodies. Thanks for sharing!
