Erik Smith Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Here is AMT's 1976 Gremlin. Paint is Tamiya TS-60 Pearl Green. Almost box stock - I added plug wires. This was a relatively quick build and I really just wanted a stock looking Gremlin on the shelf. There are some "gremlins" to work out in this kit, but I really enjoyed the challenge - something I would have tossed on the floor 20 years ago... The front clip was about the only kit piece that was modified - it is too wide. Rather than cut it once in the center, I cut it twice, about where the body parts separate on the 1:1 car. A blades width plus some clean up was all that was needed to narrow it properly. Most of assemblies fit rather vaguely - no real locating points for the interior tub or the frame in the body. But...I think it is what it is and I like it...
jeffs396 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 WOW! Erik, that turned out GREAT! Slick paint, very cleanly built. Nice job fixing all of the 'gremlins'
1972coronet Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Gorgeous Gremlin , Erik ! I've wanted to try Tamiya TS-60 Pearl Green , but I didn't have any idea how it'd look . Now that I know , I'll have to go grab a can of it ! ( I have used the Green Metallic . Matter of fact , that was the very first Tamiya spray I'd ever tried ! Which kit supplied its tyres for this ?
cobraman Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Very nice build on this kit. I built it also. Pretty narrow front buckets aren't they ?
Dragline Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Perfect color choice! This is the nicest build of this kit I've seen yet. I may steal that color choice as I have a can of that paint in the stash.. Bob
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Very very nice. Now I want one. Great job on this.
slusher Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Erik best looking build on the Gremlin l have seen so far. Nice touch on the header panel and that is an asume color. Really nice foil work also...

Ben Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I have to be honest, I don't really care for the candy green looking wheels but I love everything else!!!!!! Looks like you did a VERY nice job on it!
realgone58 Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!!! That is beautiful! Absolutely LOVE the color! Looks period perfect!

Tires are from the kit Very nice build on this kit. I built it also. Pretty narrow front buckets aren't they ? They are narrow - annoyingly so, but I really fought myself to keep the build simple and out of the box. No worries about the wheels, Ben. To each his own - I actually came across a reference shot of a 1:1 with painted wheels and I liked the look, so...still do! Thanks for all the comments!
PistonDog Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I happen to love the wheels.....and the entire build too. Great job
dougp Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Great work Eric. Love the color and the detail. Another great finish.
Sixties Sam Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Great looking Gremlin! Looks better than the real ones looked! Nice work! Sam
Daf57 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 A little late to the party but ... wow, this is very nice! Love it! One of my college roommates had a Gremlin - good memories.
