The70judgeman Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 A little trip to Model Empire and got a '69 Dodge Charger photo-etch set from The Model Car Garage and a Fred Cady #288 decal set of MOPAR Billboards and various engine displacements for air cleaners(just need the 426 HEMI Head decals) for a future '69 Dodge Daytona project.

kratvmnd Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 It`s a picture from the item i won on ebay, not my picture. Is there somthing wrong with the pic? I did not notice. In the picture of the Camaro, there is a ruler propped up with a measuring tape, just looked kinda funny that's all.

Terryk2003 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Picked up a dremel today! And a few cans of paint from Hobby Lobby.

2000-cvpi Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I stopped at an antique mall yesterday and found some neat books and four kits. The books are from the Henry Ford Museum gift shop. The kits are complete abs they were 35.00 for all four.
Tom Geiger Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Not model related, BUT, I got the keys to my new house. No more renting. Congrats James! Much, much better than just getting a silly model!
JamesW Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) Congrats James! Much, much better than just getting a silly model! Ahh, but it gives me a bigger, and better modeling area. Edited October 6, 2013 by JamesW
martinfan5 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Ahh, but it gives me a bigger, and better modeling area. And that is always good
Tom Geiger Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Ahh, but it gives me a bigger, and better modeling area. And you can't complain about that! Three years ago I moved to PA from NJ and bought a bigger house. Much more room for the 'stuff'!
A.R.C. Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I had to share this with everyone. I`ve been looking for this truck for a while without much luck and then last week I found one on E-Bay that was open but the seller wasn`t too sure if all the parts were there and he wanted a silly amount for it. I almost bought it anyway but my gut said to stay away. I always go with my gut but I was still bummed to be so close yet so far away. A couple hours later I stumble onto Deans Hobby Stop. Never been there before, seemed like a cool site, so I started poking around and lo and behold!!!! My holiest of grails still sealed and priced at a reasonable $24.99. I couldnt get out my Visa fast enough. Its not anything ultra rare or exotic but has a lot of meaning to me. It was a gift to me when I was a little kid by a loved one that was an even littler kid who passed away at a young age. I still miss him very much. The original went through many renditions and I still actually have it but its no where near stock condition anymore. I have wanted to find one to build in its original form to honor his memory for quite a while, so to find this was one of the best gifts I could ever receive. I`m pumped!! I confess. I had a tear in my eye when I opened this up for the very first time.
DrewCfromSC Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 always good to reconnect with the good parts of your past. Drew
Eshaver Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 As for making this one stock, yes, with minor modification to probably the frame I would say so . I made a near stock 53 Ford panel by using the A M T 53 running gear and the monogram, now Revell 55 panel body . The only issue I have with the Monogram - Revell Panel body is the top is too dang FLAT. The Pick up, kinda so ....................
PappyD340 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 KOOL story Adam, I know you will enjoy building this one, can't wait to see the finished product!!
disabled modeler Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Its always nice to find one that reminds us of our younger days when life was easier and more fun....great to hear it!
Daddyfink Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Very cool! I like that we can connect memories to most of our models. Especially about good people in our lives.
ZTony8 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) On Saturday at Sylvania I scored 4 old AMT Indy car kits(3 McLarens and a Penske PC6), a Fujimi Ferrari Daytona Convertible Entusiast Model(the show car version with the oddball top)and a built up Texaco liveried Tamiya Ford Sierra for a total of $60.I didn't need the Ferrari but for the $20 price I couldn't pass on it. Exotics_Builder Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Steven's International provided these samples at IHOBBY. The product is Plastic Dreams and they provide floor mats and mud flaps for 1/25 scale models.
